My Phoebe started out such a dark chocolate and now she is super pale--total cafe au lait, heavy on the milk. The interesting thing is that her paws and the upper part of her ears have remained darker so her coloring is more of a chocolate ombre which everyone--myself included--find really pretty.  I think your little one is just gorgeous!

What a beauty! Our black doodle has lightened to pewter, not silver. He is 4 + years. It happened so slowly!

Fudge has a great look.  I love the colors.  It's hard to believe they started all chocolate.  Nothing boring about a chocolate dood!

Sophie Bear is exactly the same way. She started out looking almost black and now she is starting to get lighter. She has flecks of white hairs on her back. I can't wait to see how she changes.

My Rio started out totally black and white with nothing in between--but boy has he changed--he has lots of salt and pepper where the white used to be and his face is getting browner--His black ears have salt and pepper coming in underneath. He is just 7 months old, so this will continue to be interesting.

Hi, our Tess is also a chocolate ALD. I had no idea that it would take three years for her coat to stop changing! I was thinking it was after they lost their baby hair around one. Boy was I wrong. Tess has so many colors going on in different areas. In some spots she is getting lighter, but next to her skin it is changing back to dark again. What a guessing game. Do chocolates change the most from what they start with?
