I just read in an article that many people are choosing 'people' names for their dogs now.  Years ago people chose "dog names" such as Rover, Rex, Blackie and Fido.  Now, the trend is for 'people' names.  The article stated the reason for this was because we are now thinking of our dogs more as family members than 'pets'.  So, did you give your dog a 'person name'?  With Tori, it was more of a word we chose because of the meaning of it.  Then we liked it even more because it sort of was like a play on words... Tori sounded like the then NY Yankee manager , Joe Torre.... So we didn't actually choose Tori because it was short for Victoria, but worked out in our favor since she NOW IS considered one of the family...A bit more hairier,  four legs, tail, and all!

This is why we chose the name Riley too plus it's actually an Irish surname.  My Riley sure has The Life of... and I wouldn't want it any other way!!!

The name Phoebe was chosen by my oldest son, a lover of Greek Mythology (it means Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt).  Interstingly, now that you mention it, unknowingly all of the names we had considered were human names.

Not sure that you would consider Darwin a person's name currently, although of course, he was named after a person. :-)  However, we almost named him Roger, which I still like. :-)
Of course, Camilla... Darwin was a very important PERSON!  First or last... a name is a name
We have Caeleach (gaelic for party girl) and she is a party on legs, Seamus is Gaelic for James, which means "he who supplants" (he kind of took over Caeleach's spot on the bed), CJ is 'Ciara (Gaelic for 'dark eyes') Jeannine (God is gracious) and Andy who reminds me of my Grandfather means "Warrior" because he put up such a fight to survive his time as a stray.
Charlie has a "human" name, and she certainly thinks she is one!

Amante means my secret lover; "an extra secret lover" which fits perfectly according to my DH since he feels neglected next to Amante. LOL

HaHA, Rose Ann... don't they ALL!  DH gets mad when we all come home from somewhere and Tori pushes right by everyone else to say hello to ME first!  (jealous, jealous, jealous!  lol)
Apparently we did name Sedona with a human name.  We named her "Sedona" because her coloring reminded us of the beautiful rock formations in Sedona, Arizona.  However, a bit of research revealed that the town was named after the wife of one of the original inhabitants of the area - Sedona.
Wow, interesting!  A little bit of a history lesson there!
All of my pets past and living have always had human names - Crosbey, Bougart, Humphrey, Rooney and now Stuart!    But as a child our pets weren't human names - Butterscotch, Trooper, etc.  Interesting to think how that has changed.
We had a POPCORN growing up - our first family dog.
