Well, I know some of you can relate... We took pictures, we took a diagram, the groomer said he would keep ALL hair over an inch. We came back to this. Barely a half an inch in most places. So much for NYC being the most fashionable city in the world! I will be doing all the grooming from now on. Oh and PS- he had ZERO matts in his previous 4 inch coat. My DH and I spent up to an hour EVERY evening grooming (brushing, de-matting small matts that appeared, etc) and the groomer confirmed when we arrived that he could find NO matts and that we could request it to be clipped to any length we liked. We agreed on a clipper cut of 1 1/12 inches to 2 inches all over, longer on the head, tail, and legs.... THIS is what we got. The good news is Dood doesn't seem to notice the change and we are less fearful of him being dognapped. The bad news... Well, you know.

Maybe they started off with the wrong length, and had to blend in their mistake.  Hope you didn't pay!

You still have a sweat darling boy who like TV.

That stinks!  I know groomers can only go so long with those comb things..but having it THAT short is too extreme.  I think even their combs can leave an inch or maybe longer?  I'm starting to do some grooming myself so maybe i'm wrong... but that looks like something you would do to a matted dog..not a dog with a beautiful coat.  What a shame.  I love my groomer and still go to her regularly but I wanted to learn how to do some stuff on my own.

Also, from what other Doodle owners have told me groomers just don't like the breed in general so maybe they did what they could in the least amount of time!!  Why would you be a groomer if you didn't like a very popular breed of dog that requires grooming.

oh no.. I would have pitched a hissy fit..
how long until it grows back...? any clue? and the hubs DID pitch a fit. got a refund, still...
Did the groomer give any explanation?

Lari: I think you hit the nail on the head with this groomer not "liking" the breed.

Patti: We did get a refund of our $.

Camilla: The groomer said to my hubs, after his colleague told him to fess up to it: "I made a mistake, I didn't know the blade would cut that short", "but it's good for summer"
Ugh, what a bad excuse, if you can even call it that.  It sounds like she did what she "thought" would be BETTER for your dog.  If I went in to have my hair cut and asked for long layers and ended up with some pixie cut and then they told me, "well, it's good for the summer!".  I would be hitting someone!
How on earth could she not know that the blade would cut that short, she's a GROOMER. Oy.
This is exactly why I decided to groom my dogs! Good luck!

Ok, so that is pretty rude. I'm glad you got a refund.

But look how you can feel his cute little body now. I learned to love that aspect for those times when I've had to go drastic.
