Does anyone's puppy stalk - like a cat?  Stuart does and it is so funny looking.  I hope to catch it on video but have not been able to yet.  Rooney will be in a play bow and Stuart will be across the room but they are locked in a stare down.  Ever sooooo slowwwly Stuart will stalk over to Rooney, all the while they haven't taken their eyes off each other then he freezes, still staring and then out of the blue - POUNCE.  It is so much like a cat and I laugh every time.  Rooney plays his part too.

I laughed so hard when I read this!  My little Bergen does the EXACT same thing but with balls when she plays fetch.  I'll throw the ball and she'll creep up on it than pounce.  Maybe we have doodlecats!
ha ha Gracie Doodle did that all the time to her best friend who she grew up with.  We have two English Springer Spaniels who live down the street and they were "safe" dogs so they came up twice a day when we brought Gracie home and continued to do so throughout the summer.  It was the perfect way to socialize Gracie from day one.  For over a year Gracie would stalk Sable and then pounce on her.  It was hysterical to watch.  Ahhh...for those puppy days...sometimes I really miss them because there was so much silliness and play.  I bet those two boys are really keeping you laughing right now!!!
Lucy does this too!  When we are at the park, she will crouch down (like she's hiding in the tall grass and no one can see her) waiting for some unsuspecting dog to come by so she can pounce on them.  Everyone laughs at her because she is not little, but really thinks no one can see her.
Our dogs do this too! I thought our St. Bernard/Great White Pyrenees mix had taught my doodle Barley this stalking technique. I guess not! Barley now stalks Daisy Mae, our other goldendoodle, and our St. Bernard puppy Baron. Baron has learned this too. I don't know if it's instinct, or if all of the dogs are imitating each other. Daisy doesn't stalk any of the dogs. She freezes and then runs away. However, they all stalk the cat. Poor Mittens!
Actually Jane in a video you posted of him and Rooney I noticed him stalking! It was very cute!
It was about 40 seconds into their "rough housing" video.
Chester stalks Bugs..Ants or flies and Moths. It is very cute.. HE creeps up on them then freezes with one paw in the air..then Pounce!

My dog is a stalker too.. its embrassing when I am outside and he does it too a lizard or fly. Inside our home, when

we throw toys to retrieve, if I lower them down to almost the ground before throwing them-he stalks them. I always thought that was a "cat" thing until this dog.

Halas used to do this. He doesn't any more, but it was so cute!

Luna does this ALL the time!

If I throw a ball and crouch down before she turns back around to come back.. she will stalk me on the way back.  She also stalks other dogs at the dog park, then bolts near them to try to get them to chase her.

Yesterday, she also stalked a cricket...  She heard the "chirp chirp", then streaked across the yard to where the cricket was.  She then proceeded to try to stomp it to death with her paws as she chased it across the lawn.  I'm not sure if it got away or if she stomped it so far into the grass she couldn't find it, but it was hilarious!

Pippin does this with Kylie (our Maltese).  He waits until she is not looking at him.  He tenses up, does a half crouch and whammo.  It is the funniest thing (well, Kylie is not usually impressed!!)
