Woman Sues After Dog Dies of Heatstroke From Cage Dryer

Thought I would share this story since some DK members use Petco for grooming.  I couldn't imagine the heartache this poor lady must have felt.  I just don't understand how staff could be so unaware to the fact the dog was suffering.  What is wrong with people?

Thanks for posting this. I know someone whose Bernese Mountain dog got heat stroke at the groomer. Luckily her dog recovered after hospitalization.

Wow, I didn't know there was such a thing as heated cage dryers. Thanks for posting the link. I'm going to make sure my groomer does not use these. Poor Sadie!

I have heard they are dangerous. The blood smear and scratch marks brought me to tears. How awful!

This is one reason that my groomer makes appts for Charli when she has the time to hand blow dry her.The other is I don't want the added stress just being at the groomers.

My girls are not allowed in a cage at any time. She is tethered to the sink leg when the groomer is preparing the water, etc. I go by periodically to check - we use PetSmart so I can see through the window.

I've never heard of cage dryers.  I guess it is really important to know exactly what is happening during your dog's grooming sessions.  I wish I didn't have to take Cocoa to the groomer, as she really hates the entire process.  I'm so sorry for the poor woman who lost her sweet pooch ):

They are really just the professional dryers attached to the crate, I think.

I think they are cages with dryer ducts going into them blowing in hot air.

ooohhhhh ... :-(  Poor Sadie.... I just looked at the picture of Cage dryer on google images... I never knew that they put a dog in such thing....

OMD!  I am sooo upset after reading this.  First, Bexter has never been to a groomer yet, but I will be asking about these now.  Also - after reading about how the dog tried to escape, I am traumatized & I didn't even know that poor little dog.  This is horrible.
