Hattie and I had our first Puppy Class last night at Petsmart. She is by far the smartest of the group of four, but I kind of feel like I got a dud of a class. There is a two year little dog there due to socialization issues and he sat and shook in the corner for the entire hour, a tiny chuauaha and a three month old German Shepherd who is very calm. Hattie has impulse issues to say the least which I am hoping to overcome in this class by teaching her how to greet people etc. She would be conssidered the paryt girl of the group! She was very alert at first and was earger to get to know everyone, but eventually grew very bored of the trainer standing there talking and talking and talking, and began to act up! She wasn't loud but began chewing on her halter and then on her leash and asking me in looks and movement to let her get moving...she does everything in super fast speed whereas I noticed the other dogs were very slow about their actions. Oh-the woes of worrying about my baby girl growing up well balanced!!!

Miss Hattie will always be the 'Best in Class' -- all the way around! She can't possibly have competition -- in class or out!
Sandy, girls just wanna have fun!!! You go Hattie girl!
Hattie sounds like such an adorable spunky pup.
Every class needs a party girl!!!! Amante has had two class and gets bored quickly. Our instructor tells us how to accomplish a task and then we go to a corner or an aisle and practice for ourselves.
Hattie is a DOODLE so of course she will always be the smartest in her class!  These unique babies are in a class of their own!!!!
Go Hattie-get this party moving along!
That's so cute.  Those Doodles just want to get going and Miss Hattie is obviously much smarter than her class mates!  riley starts in a couple of weeks and we'll see....?

Sorry your class doesn't have a well-rounded group of pups.  Our puppy class experience was great.  The trainer was super and balanced the talking part with lots of practicing of skills and plenty of play time.  We generally had about 8 puppies - all of whom were lively and involved in class.  One was Sedona's biological sister and they LOVED being together again.  As a matter of fact, they had to be separated - sitting on opposite sides of the classroom.

Is there another class that you can transfer to that may have a better mix of puppies?

Doodles are extremely smart and they get it instantly.  You may think they don't but they do.  They also learn how to manipulate you or push your "button" just because they so freakin' cute and loveable!  Nothing gets past Doodle eyes!!!!
oh Hattie!!  You are too smart for that class!!
smart girl. you go! i always thought sophiebear was the smartest in her puppy class too, but deep down i realized that i might be a teesy bit biased. When she graduated she got the "Cutest puppy award" but not the smartest. Oh well. I'm sure in Hatties case it sounds like she really is the smartest, and definitely cutest too!
I lucked out with a great Puppy Class, but I drove one hour one way to get there. Lots of puppies. I also took both to a Petsmart class and much older dogs and less socialization. Hattie is going to turn out great!
