Does anyone have any suggestions of something safe to use to get pine sap out of Doodle fur? Maddie has some between her toes and it is so stiff, at first I thought it was a splinter of some sort. But it smells like pine and I can stick my finger nail into it so I think it is just hardened sap. She licks it a lot so I'm not sure what to use to remove it.

Yes, Go-Jo must be washed off. When I work on my cars, my hands and nails get pitch black. I've tried Go-Jo, Goop, Zep, and a few other products, but none worked as well as shortening. I use Dawn liquid dish detergent to wash it off.

Cleaners like Go-Jo and Goop are waterless hand cleaners.  Make sure you get a smooth variety and not one with pumice or other abrasives in it.  When used on hands, you just wipe them off with a paper towel when done cleaning.  You can wash then your hands with regular mild soap and water at that time if you wish (you really don't have to).  Any remnants wash off very easily.  When using these products on fur, you would want to massage them into the sap/grease/paint/whatever, wipe off all you could with a rag, repeat if needed, and then wash with normal dog shampoo.

Goop actually makes a product "Goop for Groomers" but I have not used it so don't know how it works.

Crisco DOES work too.  But then you have to get the Crisco out.  :-)  For me that has always been much more difficult than rinsing off the hand cleaners.

Good info. Thanks Clark!!
Try Filthy animal shampoo it degreases, it is supposed to deoderize. It is all natural so it won't harm her. One time we used it on a dog that got gum between her toes, it came out right away it would be good to have some on hand (just in case).
Try using. Utter or margerine.  Works great. I live in the mountians pine sap everywhere , tried and true method
I meant.  Butter ....  Darn these iphones and small keyboards........lol
Think shortening or butter will work on a car?  When we went on the camping trip where the dogs got sap, so did our car.  We had it professionally washed but there are still spots.....

Never tried it on a car, but a can of Bug & Tar Remover should take the sap right off.

Jake gets into pine sap all the time!  I keep the waterless hand sanitizer on hand and it works like a charm.
Were you able to get it out? I've always heard the shortening and butter idea too!
We were able to cut most of it out, but there is stll some down between her toes. We will work on it again today with some butter, & I believe DH may have some GoJo.
Avon skin so soft takes sap off cars. Also good for gum removal.
