Last night I posted that Brinkley took an emergency trip to the vet yesterday because we thought he had gotten dehydrated from a beach trip on Sunday.  He worsened overnight so we took him back.  After lots and lots of tests, x-rays and ultrasounds there is a host of problems.  He has a fever of 106.3 and climbing.  His pancreas is enlarged and he probably has a pancreitis.  He also probably has ileus, which is an infection in the small intestine.  His guts aren't moving and his stomack is hard as a rock.  This is the major concern along with the fever.  They said they must get his intestines moving or it can be terrible trouble-- like him going septic and his brain overheating.

What we have going for us is that we caught it early-- really early.  They said most people wait too long thinking it will pass and then the worse case scenerio of death happens.  I just knew something was wrong last night and that's when I rushed him with moments to spare before the vet closed.  My husband spent all afternoon at the vet with him today and now Brinkley is staying overnight getting pumped full of pain meds, antibiotics and and fluids.  They are hoping with constant monitoring his intestines will start to move and not go sceptic.

I'm so scared.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Heather. I'll be thinking of you and Brinkley. Hugs to you both.

ahhh paws crossed here for Brinkley and many many prayers

Heather, sending hugs and prayers for you and Brinkley.  We are all pulling for a good outcome.  Another thing you have going for you is that he is young.  Hopefully everything is brighter in the morning.  It sounds like he is getting excellent care at the vets.
Oh, my god.... you must be so scared for him..... We are sending our prayer for Brinkey.....
So sorry to hear about Brinkley.  Sending prayers for Brinkley and everyone involved in taking care of him.

So sorry for Brinkley, Heather.   Sure hope he starts to turn the corner soon and is back to being himself.   Our last dog, Smokie had Pancreatis twice and an ilieus once along with it.   It is a type of bowel blockage, where the food just doesn't get past the iliuem.   Will definitely put you all in my prayers.   It is so hard to see our pups so sick.

So sorry to  hear about Brinkley.  Duffy was very ill in January and at death's door.  We also knew something wasn't right with him right away.  Our regular vet did not really know what was wrong and put him on prednisone at our first visit.  We really think that contributed to his getting better - that he was started on it so early before a diagnosis.  His was diagnosed with an immune  mediated blood disorder.  I know exactly what you are going through. Duffy went yesterday for more blood work as it's been 6 months since we were finally able to bring him home.  He is doing great.  My heart and thoughts are with you and Brinkley.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Brinkley and family.
Oh Heather I am so sorry to hear that you are all going through this. You have my heartfelt prayers for Brinkley.
Thinking of you knowing how terrified you must be.
Praying that Brinkley gets well soon!
Awe, poor Brinkley! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Oh no, how terrible. I'm thinking of you guys and Brinkley, wishing for a speedy recovery...
