I love my Lab sooo much i wanted another so I bred her with a Poodle!!! OY! Making Labradoodles!!!

What was I thinking!  So, my girl is in her 7th week and now I'm getting nervous!  Gotta build that Whelping box and prepare!  I made a vet appointment to see how many pups she will be having.  I keep one, give one to her Stud, and the rest of the babies! Oh my! What to do with my babies babies??? Suggestions?

Hi Dina, I don't know much about breeding but I have a feeling you are in for a LOT of work. Maybe more than you bargained for. That being said, getting nervous is not giong to help you now. Worry is wasted energy. Focus on what you have to do.

I think everyone here understands your intentions are all good. Now you just need to contintue to inform yourself.  I think you will get lots of great help from the professional breeders on this site. A lot of people here are involved in rescue and therefore are quite sensitive to these issues. I hope the whelping goes smoothly and the puppies and mom are all in good health. I think it's a great idea to work with DRC to find homes for the puppies, they will provide you lots of help in what to look for from prospective adopters.

How old is your lab? I don't know your situation and how experienced you are but unless you plan to become a professional breeder and breed her again I would have to agree with the others, spaying is the best option once the puppies all find homes.

Best of luck!

I agree with Laurie. Right now you need to concentrate on making this a smooth delivery. These pups have a good chance of being fine. If in fact the parents have had basic health testing you may find buyers, at a very reasonable price. Not everyone can afford pups from great lines and good breeders. I know some very good breeders have pups unsold at this time. So get the pups delivered and see what the breeders here can advise you about finding good homes for them. Hopefully with two pups spoken for, you won't have many to place.

Agreed.  Best of luck to you. I don't think anyone wanted to sound harsh - many, many of our members are deeply involved in rescue and we all try to do our best to spread the word about responsible breeding.

So, concentrate on finding really loving homes and I hope you reach out to some breeders for sage advice.

The breeders on this site are so kind and generous to help out here. I just wanted to thank all of you. I know you are busy enough with your own dogs and pups.

I don't think anyone on here wants you to feel nervous or feel like you are going to vomit. This site is like a family, Each one of us is entirely passionate and totally dedicated to our dogs, to the doodle breed and to making sure that all dogs have a fair chance at life, not ending up abused or put somewhere where their quality of life is not so good.

A lot of people on here have rescued dogs that came from back yard breeders, or puppy mills and they have seen the horrible damage that can come from it. We are a passionate group of people when it comes to our dogs and I would venture to say that more then the majority of us would go without, so that our dogs could have.

That being said, no one thinks your intentions were bad. People mate dogs all the time, Dogs that have not been spayed or neutered are making tons and tons of dogs on a regular basis. The thing is, it is heart breaking. I can not go to Pet Smart on a Saturday because I literally do cry seeing all these innocent dogs that were breed and given to homes that the families have no idea what they are getting into and these dogs end up in kill shelters, where other people have to try to pull them out and rescue them.

It really sounds like you love them. I am sure you will do a great job and be very responsible in making sure they get a good home...

I agree with all the advice given, I just wanted you to understand if you are feeling attacked or not understood, where others are coming from... These are people who have seen the devastating effects of giving puppies away to people who think they are cute.

I will tell you, I consider myself to be entirely responsible when it comes to my dog, he has better health insurance then me, he eats better then me, he has a dog sitter, went to day care, and is treated like a king. We just got a second puppy that is my mom's puppy. It is sucking the very life out of me, and I am responsible, have help with her, she isn't even mine  we are trying our best, we KNEW what we were getting into and we are still struggling, or I should say I am.. just a bit.. to make sure both dogs needs are being met, which means mine is on the back burner at times.. I am saying that because I am a die hard dog lover.... and I am having a hard time, how about someone who does not know what they are going to get into?

Please be very judicial in who you give the dogs to. Make sure they know how much work it is, how tiring it can be. Sometimes I try to talk people out of getting dogs when they say they want one, just to see where they are at.. A puppy is an amazing amount of work. They are so cute, but they pee, poop, cry, bite, chew on stuff, don't understand what you are saying have no manners,  and they need a lot of work

Our second puppy is worth every ounce of work but make no mistake about it, sometime my eyes are tearing up at night because I am so tired and want to go to bed but a puppy needs exercise, training and to be treated properly...

People NEED to know this before they take home a dog.... They need to know how it is life commitment. I literally worry about my dog having a safe dog sitter, I could not imagine worrying about the lives of other puppies..  That is just me.

I believe your intentions are good, you got great advice, I just beg you to please make sure that you check out the families that take the puppies a million percent..

We want to help you, be friends with you and I am so grateful other breeders will be here to guide you.. No judgment from me, just my support in helping you do the best by these babies... which I know is what you want.....

Dina, just do your best for these babies and make sure they find good homes. Not everyone who has a dog that they love got it from a breeder so there are people out there that will love these babies, you just have to find them.
Oh my....... Read the title of your post to yourself and then read the contents of your post. Does it really sound like somebody who is responsible to be taking this on? It sounds like it was written by a giddy teenager living in la la land to me (or internet troll). A "Volunteer Rescue Worker" who breeds their lab because they just wanted another one of her? That is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. If it all is indeed true, I hope that you take the great advice that others have given you. Lord help these puppies. They are going to need it.
I guess I'm waaay out of the loop but what is an "internet troll"?

Somebody who goes to internet forums and  writes about heated topics that they know will cause an emotional response from forum memebers. (The topics they write about are made up)

Well I would hate to be wrong and hurt someones feelings but I think you may be right.  What person that volunteers around rescues would casually breed their dog?  Doesn't sound believable.
Gah, I hate internet trolls. I remember the last troll on DK, it was a doozy. Lets hope Dina isn't one.

Which one was that Camilla?

I think you all may be right....now that I'm looking back at this....has all the signs.....
