Last night I posted that Brinkley took an emergency trip to the vet yesterday because we thought he had gotten dehydrated from a beach trip on Sunday.  He worsened overnight so we took him back.  After lots and lots of tests, x-rays and ultrasounds there is a host of problems.  He has a fever of 106.3 and climbing.  His pancreas is enlarged and he probably has a pancreitis.  He also probably has ileus, which is an infection in the small intestine.  His guts aren't moving and his stomack is hard as a rock.  This is the major concern along with the fever.  They said they must get his intestines moving or it can be terrible trouble-- like him going septic and his brain overheating.

What we have going for us is that we caught it early-- really early.  They said most people wait too long thinking it will pass and then the worse case scenerio of death happens.  I just knew something was wrong last night and that's when I rushed him with moments to spare before the vet closed.  My husband spent all afternoon at the vet with him today and now Brinkley is staying overnight getting pumped full of pain meds, antibiotics and and fluids.  They are hoping with constant monitoring his intestines will start to move and not go sceptic.

I'm so scared.

I'm EXHAUSTED!!! But this is one of the few times that I'm glad I work days and my hubby works nights at the hospital because Brinkley doesn't have to be alone as he recovers.
OMG poor Brinkley and poor you.  I'm so happy to hear he's back home!!
Excellent news.  Glad he is home and getting better.
Great news! I'm so happy to hear Brinkley is home!
Thanks everyone!  And this Doodle is hungry!  So glad to see him have an appetite even if all he can eat is boiled chicken and rice!  Ahhh, I'm so glad he's home.
Me too! He's such a beautiful kid. I can see why he brings so much joy to you and to everyone with whom he comes in contact. Get well soon, Mr. Brinkley!
I'm at school, still getting things done, and went to check on how Brinkley was doing...Praises to God!  Our prayers were answered!  Or as we from the south say, " Halleluiah!"  :)

Yes, thank goodness!  We prayed hard.  Actually, here's a great little story.  As I've mentioned before I'm a TV Producer for The 700 Club.  Well Pat Robertson just got a Doberman and we started a Facebook Page for him and a lot of our fans/viewers follow it.

Well, me and one other producer "tend" to the page and post things as if the Blue (the dog) is saying them.  The other producer posted that Blue's friend Brinkley was sick and within an hour we had 99 responses and over 200 likes of people praying for Brinkley... so couple that with all of you on DK, Brinkley had LOTS of prayer!!! He's one loved pup.

I am so glad to hear the good news!  That is so cool about everyone praying for him - Thank you Lord!  And for all of the people involved in Brinkley's care.  I hope you can catch up on some much needed rest!
I am thrilled to hear that Brinkley is home.  Thank goodness!
Just checking in to see how Brinkley is doing.  So glad that he is home and so much better. And lucky you that you had pet insurance.  Wish we had gotten it.
