Has Toby always been a picky eater or just since the surgery? What type of food is Toby eating? I think if it's stinky enough he will eat without the additives. We once had Daisy on Orijen and frankly she was persnickety about eating, I have since switched to Acana, Pacific (Salmon and stinky) and she does not need any enticing, she gobbles it up. I had to gradually change by adding just a 1/3 cup Acana to 2/3 cup Orijen but that only took about a week...never had any issues. Daisy is NOT food motivated so she really must like it. We do give her a tablespoon of wet in her dinner meal (Wellness Chicken) to get her excited about dinner though.
Well ya can't blame him for that poor baby!
:0)
Maybe after the cone is off he will just eat - ya never know till you try.
Both of Jackdoodle's vets- regular vet and specialist- want him to get at least three whole eggs a week for the biotin, so if Toby likes them, there really isn't any harm in giving them, at least until he's completely healed. Another alternative would be to hardboil them and then just sprinkle a little bit of chopped egg on the food.
I have to go with an egg every day (or part of one) for the rest of his natural life. Seems like a small thing to ask for after self inflicted surgery and 2 rounds of the cone - and now a sock!!!!!!! I don't think that there is a wrong choice here - what ever you are comfortable with - I hope all goes well as he adjusts to his healed paw and life without the cone..
