At 6 months of age, the puppy Chance has figured out how to mimic a human smile!  He does it when he's really excited to see us, usually when we get home from a longer workday, or when we visit family.  Does anyone else have a smiley doodle?  It's different than a regular doggie happy face, because he actually lifts up his upper lip to expose his pearly whites, and it's really striking!  Our older dood, Darwin has not picked this up.

Anyone know why some dogs do this while most don't?  I think he's a little genius ; )  (yup, I'm a sucker for his charms)

Such a happy boy!
So cute!!
My Tucker is almost 13 weeks old now and he does smile all the time....but it is submissive...he goes belly up for belly rubs and just wants to be adored.I think it is sweet and I see it as him putting all his trust and love in you.....he is giving it his all.
That is so sweet. Our dogs that smiled only did it in submission, too. It's the dearest thing.
That is so cute of Parker!!!

I am sorry but WE are the luckiest bunch of people on the planet having DOODLES in our lives....they are just so full of JOY and HAPPINESS!

I hope Caitlin doesn't mind me posting this, but she actually taught her pup, Albus to smile. He is SO adorable when he does it. How cute it is that he can do this on command?

Oh, I didn't realize you could teach this behaviour.  I wonder what her process was.

That's a great shot of a goofy smile :)
