took Lilly to 9wk check up and what do I get but a puppy welcome package from the vet tech ( the vet was on vacation)  from Iams with a starter bag in it.. I said no thank you.  Lilly will stay on Canidae. I am going to take this list in to the vet's on my next visit.

You've got to hand it to the marketing people at Iams; great way to get new customers, lol!
Mimi - The vet gave me a new puppy package too - with Hills' Science Diet food.  I donated that along with my first bag of Puppy Chow he was on when I got him to the animal shelter.

Thanks for putting this up. It was the perfect quick reference guide. My puppy comes home next week, and I ordered Fromm's puppy gold for him on a recurring schedule through Petflow.

My breeder currently feeds him Life's Abundance, but i am going to ween him off of it.

Good decision, Mona, but wait a couple of weeks before changing his diet. There are a few reasons for this. One, he is going through the greatest, most stressful change he will ever experience, and it's best to let at least one thing, his food, be familiar to him. Also, because so many doodle puppies seem to come home with giardia and coccidia, if he has any loose stools or digestive issues, you will know it isn't because of a food change. So keep him on the LA for at least 2 or 3 weeks until he's settled in and you've had a chance to see what his normal "output" is.
Thanks for the insight Karen! The breeder is giving me a bag of life abundance that should hold him over for a little over 2 weeks. I've been reading about how to slowly switch them over, so maybe i can grab another small bag of it so that we can slow down the process.
I wouldn't slow it down. After two weeks, if all seems well, just replace a quarter of his regular meal with the new food, and continue to increase the new food while you decrease the old food over a week's time. It may be that he will try to pick out just theFromm's, he may prefer it greatly, in which case just let him have it. You'll probably have a few days of not-so-great stools, either way.

Karen, it won't let me edit with this document, so I will add the raw info and send it to you via email.  I had thought it would be easier!

Yeah, just realized that even I can't edit a discussion started by someone else. :(

Has anyone heard of or used Nature's Domain?  They were giving out free samples at Costco and it's a grain free, salmon and sweet potato.    The price was good too, so I thought I pick your brains and see if anyone has heard of it.  Thanks

We have a couple of discussions here about Nature's Domain, this being the most recent and informative:

It's okay in terms of ingredients, although I would be willing to bet they outsource them. It's very low in protein for a grain-free food, and even lower than the numbers reflect, since some of that 24% is from plant proteins, mostly potato and pea protein.

Jane - our local Costco is carrying this too.  It is made by the same manuf as TOTW.   I think Karen has done a review on this before because I remember looking for what "Karen had to say" before I purchased.  I think she compared it to TOTW and TOTW was a better option.  The recommended feeding amount on the ND is 2 cups more than what I feed of Acana.   The NB is 5 - 6 1/4 cup (for my 65lb dogs) and Acana is 2 3/4 - 4 3/4.   I thought that seemed substantial enough that I would need to consider that (as well as quality) before purchasing.     I know a few breeders that buy ND and rave about it.
