Today was my first day back to school since Zeus came home a month ago. He just turned 25 weeks old and other than stealing dish and hand towels from the kitchen countertop, rolling the bathroom in toilet paper, and converting one of the dog beds into a golf course by skillfully engineering a putting hole in the middle of the fabric and foam (while I was in the room next to him), he’s done very well since I granted him parole from puppy prison 2½ weeks ago. So, I decided to leave him “unsecured” again under the supervision of Hercules and off to school I went. While I was gone (less than 4 hours), my little devil darling decided to redecorate the living room. Wasn’t that sweet of him?

Here’s the BEFORE photo:

And here’s the AFTER photo (my visual as I walked in the door):

I can’t say that I’m very fond of his style and technique . . . and neither was Hercules (poor guy had no comfy bed). BTW, in the AFTER pic., Zeus dragged those other two beds from another room. I had them wrapped in old blankets and sheets because one has damaged fabric and the other is the one Zeus made into a golf course. All of the fiberfill wads and piles you see in the pic. came from my dining room chair cushions (not any dog toys). Luckily, my microfiber suede sofas survived without any damage.

I’d love to see pix of your Decorator Doodle’s work-of-art. Maybe we can compare their masterpiece showrooms and decide which Dood is the most skillful in interior design.

UPDATE: Before I left for school today, I put Zeus in a “gated community” right next to the porcelain goddess. I placed his golf course (damaged dog bed) in there for him, along with some toys, installed the baby gate, then moved his crate in front of the gate to prevent him from jumping over the top. He’s outgrown the crate and the bathroom is the only room downstairs with an interior door. So, I tell him he’s a good boy, give him and Hercules a kiss and off to school I went. When I returned home 4 hours later, I was so excited to open the door to my neat and clean home, be greeted by Hercules, and then by Zeus after I released him from the porcelain goddess prison. Well, when I got the door open, visions of sugar plums were not dancing in my head. This is what I saw:

And this is the bathroom from where he escaped. How the heck did he get out of there? The gate was still secured to the door frame!

My “designer dog” is certainly living up to his label. Maybe I should change his name to Houdini. Looks like I’ll have to shut the bathroom door next time. I was trying to be nice and let him see out, but my ONE good dining chair cushion was apparently too enticing to him . . . not to mention the largest and most expensive dog bed that only needed a new cover. Argh!

I just reread you post - so he destroyed your things - the chairs, but not his things - the toys!! Hmmmmmmm

I find it very interesting that he didn't chew his own stuff up. This sounds exactly like Chloe's puppyhood. I can't say that I have any pictures on the  computer-most of the time DH was too ticked off, if I would have got the camera out, he would have threw me out the door! She has gone through like 20 beds-50 stuffed animals and counting. She ate the couch and loveseat-thank goodness only on the skirt part-it was very new furniture at that point. She ate/unraveled our berber carpeting in the dining room and living room multiple times, she scraped her teeth against the walls when she was teething, she ate the wallpaper off the kitchen wall twice! She stole a hundred toilet paper rolls and chewed it up after she ran it through the house and lets not forget all the kleenex she plucked out of the boxes! She eats socks, towels, coasters. She chases the cat up to his room constantly. He lives in a gated community now. As if that's not enough she chews her hair off her legs and bites the toenails on the back foot. I'm sure there's more but I think those are the ones that stand out. He really went to town as fast as he could since he didn't know how long you would be gone hey?

I love the "gated community" - haha! Gosh, Chloe IS a little destroyer. She literally chews on herself too? Wow, sounds like Puppy Prozac might do her some good. I'd be afraid she'd shred a Thundershirt right off of her own back. She's so lucky to be so doggone adorable and have such loving and understanding parents. I do hope our kids outgrow this stage. Whew!

Oh this is scary - YIKES!!!!  (somebody had lots of fun)   Wish me luck (and send up some prayers), tomorrow is puppy pick up day

Congrats on the new pup! I'm sure you have your crate already ready. LOL!
oh yeah, like I have said before, all of you have taught me so much and I do plan to heed the advice!

hahaha! I can't help but laugh! Though I feel your pain! Parker only ripped up his bed the other night and I was not impressed! When we are not home with him, we leave him in his crate because he's too anxious...he would destroy the house loose! We walk out for a minute to check the mail box and he is trying to scratch down our door!

And I have to say...I do not think I would hire Zeus as my decorator lol

I just updated my initial post in this thread with today's latest events. Geez, I need a beer!
Sorry to be laughing so hard here...I am sure you don't feel the same way :o)
OH_OH looks like your are off to maximum security Zeus ol boy!

Well, when I "see" you all laughing, it makes me laugh too. Thanks, I needed that. :0)

Haha, yup, maximum security prison this time. I'll probably end up having to replace the bathroom door, as I can already just imagine what damage he's going to do to it too.

On a serious note, I kinda worry that a closed door would get damaged too.  How about the two gate method, one above the other?  Also I would start some boundary training and sit/down/stay exercise ASAP.  As well I would make sure he is good and tired before putting away.
