Earthquakes and The Doodles

It looks like there are quite a few of us who have just felt and earthquake.  It's a first for me.  DH and I were sitting here, each on our own computers.  We first heard something strange, and then he went to look for the dogs...thought they were into something.  Then he asked me "what's that shaking"?  The whole house was shaking!  It actually lasted for about 30 seconds.  I said I thought it was either an EQ or we were both losing our minds.  We got the Doods and ran downstairs....just in case.  They seemed to sense that there was something wrong.  Anyway, it was over quickly.  It sounds like this was up and down the East Coast.  Who else felt this....and how did your Doodles react?  Hopefully those closer to the epicenter are all fine.

I am from California - no need to say more is there?  Actually, one time we were getting ready to leave a campground and our slide outs pull back in with a motor.  Just as we were bringing them back in an earthquake hit and the slides bounced around and we thought they were broken and didn't know it had been an earthquake until we got home and saw the newspaper!

Not always, but sometimes an earthquake sounds like a train coming down the tracks. Sometimes the quakes are rolling and sometimes sharp jerks.  Which kind was yours?

We are about 7o miles or so from Mineral, and we felt it pretty good here. Zoe was at the groomer in her kennel and I felt bad but Claudia had it all under control there.  Zoe just seemed really happy to see me when daddy went to pick her up. 

I was watching the walls go wobbly for a moment and was watching the face of my boss and the auditor that was at my office yesterday when it happened.  They've never experinced one, so the look on their faces was priceless.  Called my Eli at the house and he answered so quick, what the heck was that, I thought the house was going to gave in so I ran out side and all the trees were shaking, I ran back in and everything was jiggling.  I explained what happened and he was like oh cool, I was wondering what that was, well I gotta go, I'm in the middle of a game.......ah,,,,,,teenagers. 

 

Shea our toy sized mini slept throughthte whole thing, I imagine she rolled over 'cuz she thought she was getting a massage....

I live in Richmond, VA so I am about 40 miles from Mineral. This was a first for me, so it was pretty spooky! I was at work when it started, and I started looking around to be sure there wasn't anything that was going to fall on us. Even though it only lasted several seconds, it seemed like it lasted forever!! But we were all ok, no damage & nobody hurt, so that's a good thing!

The area where I work in a hospital is part of a "connector" over the road "connecting" two buildings. Everyone there felt the vibrations from the quake, some actually had equipment move, wile others felt a rocking like on a boat! Very strange, they had structural enginers actually come in to check for any damages, luckily none were found.

So our area (Ontario) is under a pretty big tornado watch today. The storms should come around 7pm...so I have 2 hours to prepare!!!! Poor doodle, she's not going to like this!

I just realized the extent of the damage from the earthquake at my house... One of my glass cat figurines fell over on the shelf. It did not shatter, just sort of fell over.

I leave in Pa. At the time of the earthquake I was vacuming the first floor doodle bug was laying on the couch and didn't flinch. My kids were upstairs screaming earthquake , because the whole upstairs was rocking. Shoes of the shelves in the closet etc. I'm really surprised Henderson didn't do anything because he always gets ansey before a storm.
