Strawberry pickin' doodle

I haven't seen this topic (yet) but my doodle loves to pick strawberries.  He doesn't like to eat them - just pick them.  We have strawberries planted under the larger plants on the patio and he started watching them as soon as they started to rippen.  He would pick them and tried eating a few but decided they were not to his taste.  I would scold him and tell them they were "mine".  I even washed them off and ate them while he watched telling him they were "mine".  Now he picks them as soon as they are ripe, doesn't damage them at all, and places them on the back step.  I have a couple of fresh strawberries each morning.

Reminds me of the calico cat I had when I was a child.  We slept outside frequently and in the morning we would always have a mouse on our chest when we woke up (for breakfast).  She loved hunting all night for her family.

So funny! Casey does the same thing! She picks our peppers and runs around the yard and gives them to us after a while. Sooner or later we eat them but I agree- animals are so funny!

I think that's pretty awesome that he doesn't mangle them in the process....what a good boy.  I love your "strawberry story" but the "mouse on your chest" story....not so much.  That would be enough to end my sleeping outside days for good.

What a good boy, Mitzi would eat them all without hesitating!  I'm amazed she doesn't eat the mangoes when they fall, she waits for me to peel them for her.
