I have known for a while now that Doodles are special dogs, but just in the past couple of days, they have definitely proved it. My four year old kitty, Allie, just died suddenly the night before last. She has not been sick a day in her life and the only time I have ever taken her to the vet is for her shots. But the other night, while she was laying on my husbands chest "making biscuits", she just fell over and died. Evidently her heart just stopped.I was in complete shock and have been having a real tough time here lately trying to comprehend this and believe that she is gone. Somehow, "the girls", Morgan especially, know that I have not really been myself and that something is wrong. They have stayed right by my side even more than usual and just want to be close to me. Morgan even seems to "put her arm around me" as if she's trying to console me. It is the cutest thing. I know animals can sense things, but it sure helps you get thru some tough times when they are this smart and realize something is wrong.
Hi Joy - your post brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose a pet, but when it is sudden like that I think it is even harder. I'm glad you have your doodles to help ease your pain and yes, I agree, they are so in tune with their owners and definitely know when something is amiss. Again, we are so sorry for your loss. Hugs from Maci and me.
Joy,
I was sorry to hear about Allie. I am so glad you have Morgan and Maddie to help you get through this. They are very sweet girls....As you already know they will be there for you. Hugs from Barb and Abby...
Joy, just wanted to offer my condolences on the loss of Allie. I know how difficult it is to lose one of our sweet furkids. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Joy, sorry for your loss. I had a 4year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier that died on Memorial Day of this year. It broke my heart and the pain is still there, I got my doodle to help heal my broken heart and that is how I found these great dogs. He will be 7months soon and already he is so in tune to how I feel and what I do.
Awwwww...........I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can truly relate to your grief. Just this February, we lost our 13 year old mini poodle named Tyler suddenly. I am the one who found him in the cage with our other poodle. I was completely devastated. You and your famil are in my thoughts.
As for your doodle, I know what you mean...........they are so smart. We introduced Bear to our family a few days after Tyler had passed and I am so glad we did. They are such lovers :) And that is truly wonderful you have the girls to help you at this time.
Thanks Holly. I'm sorry to hear about Tyler. Thirteen years is a long time to have a pet close to you and suddenly be taken away. But you're right, the Doodles sure give you lots of love to help make up for that loss.
I know that dogs can sense things. My husband passed away two years ago from a massive heart attack. Anyway I got Buddy a year after my husbands passing. Buddy is a year old now. So now when I go to visit my husbands grave, my dog will go ahead of me and get to my husbands grave and lay down on it. He will put his head down but keeps his eyes fixed on me. He stays there with me and then when I leave he is walking right beside me. He licks my hand as we walk. I think he is trying to console me the best way he knows how. Just when I need it......Buddy is there for me.
Gosh, Margie, that really brings tears to my eyes. But how nice to have Buddy accompany you and know that you need some comforting. I know that means the world to you and I'm glad you have him there with you. Dogs are sooo smart - what would we do without them???
