Honestly, Toby MUST go into the bathroom with me every time I go in. If the door is not closed tight he barges right on in. If the door is closed all the way he plops right down at the door. This is for normal bathroom use or even bathroom cleaning. He also must be right with me when I vacuum too.
Just curious to know if this is a common behavior or not.

I thought Sadie was bad about following me around! :o)
The bathroom is one place I'm safe...I think because she associates it with getting a bath, which she barely tolerates.
Yup. I rarely close the door. Thule will barge in and Cass might barge in but Rosco is not a barger-inner. But if the door is open, they'll prance in, one at a time and check on me to be sure I'm doing okay. Then look in the tub and sniff the air above the tub to be sure there are no monsters that might get me, and finally sniff the sink edge and walk out once their inspection is complete.

While I'm putting on my make-up or showering (in which case the door IS closed -- don't want an ounce of heat escaping!) Rosco is often found in this position right outside:

It's so cute, I LOVE it and it makes me feel so adored. I ask Clark "how come you don't worship the ground I walk on and follow me around and wait for me outside the bathroom door??" HUH? LOL
Giada does follow me in the bathroom, and also loves to stand up to the counter and watch me brush my teeth--she is so facinated with this act. She too loves to have her teeth brushed.
Finny has a love, hate relationship with the bathroom. After a muddy, winter walk he has to be carried into it...in the evenings he comes running into it, because it's toothbrush time! And toothbrush times means tug'o'war play and chomping on a beefy toothbrush!
Yes, she follows me everywhere, bathroom or anywhere else she can. Also, when she follows me whether it be the kitchen or den, she not only lays down next to me but always has to be touching me either by laying on my feet or leaning against me. She likes the touch of someone! The only time that she will lay away is when she is hot and then she will lay by herself.
If there is no one else home Mosley will follow me all over the house - and like you said, right to the bathroom. They just don't want to be left all alone. When Moes sees us getting ready to go out he just waits by the door for us. He won't leave the door even for a treat.
YES! If I do not let her in I hear sighing from the other side of the door.( so pitiful ) When I shower she lays on the bath mat. Putting make up on, doing my hair. Always in there with me.
Jordan will only do this to me, never Brian.
Vacuuming she wont move, I have to almost suck her up before she will move out of the way. She has no fear of the vacuum at all.
Funny that so many doodles do this.
Oh, my gosh, I do have a lot of company! LOL These doodles are just the best! I love to be adored too.
I did have to teach Toby early on to move out of my way in the kitchen. He would position himself right in the middle of my traffic area, in front of the refrigerator. I would be tripping all over him. So now, if he forgets, all I have to say is "Toby, move!" (in THAT tone of voice!) and he goes to his assigned and approved spot where he can still watch everything but is not under my feet.
Our are constantly in the way too just like that. I swear their ribs and heads have grown extra armor because we're constantly knocking into them. At first it was on purpose so they can get obvious consequences to being in the way, but quite often I'll clonk one on the head with my knee or step on a foot COMPLETELY by accident because I'm walking or turning and didn't see them! But it's like they don't even care. Same with vacuuming. Until the vacuum gets within a couple inches or the hose is aimed at them...they just lie there and hold the rugs down. They particularly like to stand on the rug I'm about to try to move or lift.
Wow, three dogs spread out on the floor sounds like big problem!! When you are on the move, like in the kitchen, you might need to work on an assigned and approved spot for them so they can watch without danger of you falling over one of them - sounds like they are immune to painful consequences! It was really easy to teach Toby that.
I guess we need to cross the dog with the cat because cats, ours at least, is really convinced the vacuum is going to get him and runs like crazy to a safe spot. It must be quite an exercise to get your vacuuming done! LOL
oh i have the same problem with rudie. i have to scatch his butt while i use the bathroom. he also barges right in if the door is not shut all the way
mani thought i was special..... my Swany boy follows an is in my way constantly..... its so nice to have in at the groomers... 4 hours of no following , licking my leg.. yea and whats up with that? he will just stand there licking my jeans?? anyone else have that too?
