I Can Get DK Members a small discount on Pet Insurance...but a question...

I just spoke with VPI Insurance and I can get a small discount for DK Members if we partner up with them.  But it got me thinking...why not check what a couple OTHER pet insurances might offer.  I'm not as familiar with which is most desireable/popular among the various insurance companies.  Besides VPI...what other TWO would you say would be best to check on?  If we can get a better deal for everyone that would be ideal.  If not then I'm happy to go with VPI and all DK members will then get a little bit of a break when buying their insurance.

Speak out!  Vote for which other two I should persue info on!

BTW, even after 2 years, I would keep the insurance.  My Taquito is uninsurable - he was totally healthy until pet food recalls 4 years ago (he was 3 1/2); since then I have spent over $5000 on him and will continue the rest of his life.

Plus think about if they eat something and need emergency surgery?  That has nothign to do with comign from a mill or not.  Just my two cents.   Get insurance!!!!!!!!!!

I have PetPlan but of course, haven't had to use it in the past 10 months since I purchased it.  Designer doodle Peri is currently the healthiest living being in my family.

Hi guys,

I am looking into which pet insurance to go with...it's seeming like Pet Plan is the best one? We can also get a DK discount thru this? Any others I should look into?

Embrace has a wonderful program for "wellness" It basically works out to a refund for the cost of the wellness ryder and a rebate of about $100 the cost of the "illness" (main) insurance. Its perfect for puppies that have a lot of wellness in the first year. I like it also because you can customize virtually every aspect to save money where you need it. (i.e., can elect prescription coverage, deductable amount, lifetime limit, etc).

I checked into all of them and I have PetPlan.

Even though my pup's parents have had health testing, and I am getting him from a reputable breeder, it's still a good idea to have insurance...yes? B/c it will cover other things, too, not just unlikely contingencies, if I'm not mistaken?
Sandy, Hattie is adorable by the way! The poor baby, I'm so sorry to hear she is on meds for incontinence. Did you get her from a breeder? I think I will definitely get pet insurance, b/c you're right, you may have the heathiest dog in the world, but you can never tell what can happen!
I'm using the quote calculator on PetPlan to figure out how much the policy will be, and I chose Goldendoodle from the breed dropdown, but then a later question is if it's a purebred or a mixed breed? Suddenly I feel clueless. It's a mixed breed for sure, but since it's a designer breed, is it considered purebred for insurance? I'm confused! Mixed breed, right? I promise I am not usually this dense! ;-)

A goldendoodle is a mixed breed, for insurance or anything else.

It looks like I have to choose Purebred otherwise it's generic mixed breed as only option for mixed breed. Since there is a breed choice for Goldendoodle in the dropdown the only way to specify Goldendoodle is by saying purebred. Weird. Thanks Karen!

One of our members mentioned that mixed-breed dogs are cheaper because they are less likely to have whatever 'bad' genes are breed specific.
Oh interesting Nancy! Perhaps I should choose mixed breed (since that's true!) and just not specify the breed b/c the only way to specify Goldendoodle on PetPlan is by choosing purebred. I will try both ways maybe and see which is cheaper! Thanks!!!
