I just ran across this on the Summit County Ohio Dog Warden's page - it does look like a doodle to me! Normally their "guesses" are pretty far off I have noticed..............  I would be able to pull him from the shelter but I can't foster :-(

Wow, what a handsome fella.  And he sure does look Doodly!  Hope someone wonderful is able to give him a furever home!
Contact Doodle rescue collective but if the doodle is in a good shelter that is not a "kill" shelter, he might be fine there and quickly adopted.

I'd call the number in the listing and check his status; he may have been claimed or adopted.

This is a public animal control shelter, and those are typically kill shelters. So if he's still there, you can ask if he's at risk. Some animal controls don't euthanize healthy, adoptable animals. Others will only do so if they are overcrowded.

This is awful. If I lived anywhere close, I'd get in my car now to foster him. He's so cute. Let us know what happens if you do call.

I know ALL ABOUT THIS SHELTER:

  • It is a high kill shelter.   Very high kill
  • There are steps you must take to adopt a dog from them
  1. You must go down to the shelter in person and put your name on the list.  1st come, first serve.
  2. The day of the adoption you must be first in line. If you are ONE minute late, it will go to the second on the list.
  3. Once you adopt a dog you must then wait another 5 days or so for it to be neutered or spayed.  They wait until someone wants the dog before they will neuter or spay.  You must pay them first, then take the dog back to its cage for another week.   If someone does not want the animal then they feel they have  not wasted their money...... they are lovely ( not ) so be very nice.  It helps--a lot

So Denise, it you can pull you have plenty of time to make arraignments for a foster and transportation.

That's awful!
Denise, I hope you can get this dog out of there. Thank you!

Aww... Akron is only about an hour from me.... if there was anythiong I could do I would but fostering or adopting is not an option for me right now!

Makes me so sad that I am so far away!!!
Joanne, I will call you in the morning so you can give me the details. Ruck's friendsvwife is the shelter manager I might have him call in the morning :-(. He has been there awhile now poor thing.
My email to the DRC came back undeliverable.... Anyone able to try for me?
i emailed them too.
