Leaving DK...for 2 WHOLE WEEKS!!

I know I should probably be happy that I'm going away on a 2-week New Orleans vacation.....but now I know why I'm not!!! I'M GOING TO MISS MY DOODLE!!!!! I feel like I'm going to miss a life's worth of photos, videos, updates, and hilarious stories (I'm looking at you, Fudge and Vern!).

I'm going to be in serious withdrawal. I've considered clipping a piece of Lola's hair to bring with me....but that would be weird....or would it??? I also don't want to mess with the great coat of hair she's got going on right now.

What's the longest you've ever been away from your doodle?? And besides drinking your sadness away....how did you cope???

Sue, I think five days was my limit. Two whole weeks...OMD!! I just told my DH the other day that I really don't like traveling anymore....I seem to like my home best of all. Go and have a great time. My daughter was just there and said it was great. Meanwhile, I will keep all my blogs and discussions very boring and depressing in your honor...LOL!!

two nights. I thought about my doodle every second. I don't know how I would survive two weeks. I just cancelled my 10 day trip to Israel because of "work committments". Truth is I missed them already and hadn't even left yet. I'm sure after a few days I wuold have been fine without them, but I can't help but wonder if it would be difficult on Winston especially since his whole world was uprooted a few weeks ago.

 

anyway, I think you will have a fabulous time! Lola will enjoy the vacation too I'm sure. lol!

Thanks, Sherri. I don't blame you for cancelling your trip to Israel, I probably would with a new doodle on board!!! (He's so sweet!!). I've been away fro her for 10 days before, and I guess I survived. 14 days is going to kill me! DH is only coming down for a week, so Lola will have some daddy time for a week before he leaves!

I was just thinking about holidays today and can't bring myself to book one at least until next year.   It was simply the thoughts of leaving Riley.  It's really bizarre but I do hope you have a wonderful time.  I'm sure Lola will do just fine.  The good things is that dogs don't seem to have a concept of time. If I am gone for five minutes I get the same welcome as if I'm gone for five hours.  So far the longest I've been away is two nights but my partner was home.  The two of us together have left him for 5 hours!

I know how you feel.  I will be out of town on business all next week and then my DH and I are going on vacation the week after.  I'll be home for a few days in between the 2 trips and I'll have to spend time grooming them, nail trimming, teeth brushing, ear cleaning between the 2 trips so i'll probably be ready for my vacation!  The place we use for boarding has video cameras and we can check in online and see them in the daycare during the day.  I know they are "just" dogs but it gives you some peace of mind to see that they are doing just find without you.

I absolutely love the idea of live cams that some kennels have put in place. Upside, you can see your doodle any time! Downside...I'd be on there 24/7 so I might as well have just stayed home hahah!! Have a good trip!

4 days and it was tough!! The comfort I had was knowing they were boarded at a very good place and sharing a room.

I've been away for two weeks. I did miss the dogs but I knew they were being well cared for and I did email once or twice with the woman who cared for them. She even sent me a picture! I did buy a tablet computer , with the excuse that I could use it as a reader and to keep in contact with the world. I didn't miss DK because I took it with me : )

I like the table computer idea. I don't do well with "new technology" though, so I'd probably ruin the trip for myself (and everyone around me) screaming and swearing at it!!! I'm good with e-mail though, so I'll make sure my family sends us daily photos/progess reports on Lola!

I am from New Orleans and you will love it.  The weather is not as hot now, but still warm. If you really miss doodles, my sister, who lies there has two Doodles! 

You can still read DK...I did when in was out of town.
