It all started because I couldn't find a Minnesota Viking Cheerleader outfit for Rua.  So, I did what any good OCMD would do...I went to the fabric store and bought material to make her one.  As I was asking for 1/4 yd here, 1/2 yd there, a scrap of this or that, they are asking me..."Ummm...just what are you making?"  I proudly say "I'm making a cheerleader outfit for my little girl, Rua".  "Oh how cute...how old is your baby?"  "Well, she's actually a Doodle", I say.  At that point, they almost roll their eyes.

But tell me, how can they not understand and think she isn't adorable?

The next time I went in (to get material to make a couple of FL Gator outfits for Brulee & Tira), the same person helped me and remembered me.  I think they started to come around when I showed them how cute Rua looked...well, almost.

When I met my friend Susan in Iowa City a month ago, we went into a quilt shop to find some material to make a cute little dress for Rua.  When the store personnel started asking me about quilting, I said "I don't quilt".  When I went to check out, she  said "I thought you didn't sew".  I said, "no, I said I didn't quilt.  I am making my dog a dress."   I wish I could have taken a picture of the look and expression on her face.  It truly was rude and I came really close to leaving the store, but I felt sorry for her...she has never known the love of a dog.

For Halloween last year, Rua was only 3 months old and couldn't really go out.  So, I bought her a XS little princess outfit.  She weighed 6.4lbs and I would bring her to the door when the kids came to the door.

Rua is destined to be a little princess, so this year, she is going to be a Medieval Princess.  She will be attending a "Growl-o-ween" party next Saturday, October 22nd, so I have to get busy tomorrow and make her a costume.  It happened again...they just don't understand.

I have finally come to accept that I am an Obsessive Compulsive Doodle Mom and proud of it!  I'll post pictures of Princess Rua once I finish the costume.

And quite a seamstress too! Rua is just too cute! These people don't know what they are missing--Everyone has some unusual thing they love to do that others would not enjoy-so why are they not be more accepting of you? Maybe you can find a new fabric store!
Can't wait to see the costume. Little Rua is just the cutest thing ever!
WOW!  You are truly awesome!  I would like to be one of the members of your OCDM club!  I don't sew or quilt... I just love a doodle too!  But BOY OH BOY, do I ADMIRE your talents "Miss Dori" !      Rua is so lucky to have you as her mom!  Can't wait to see the finished project... as for those fabric women.... too bad on them for not knowing what it means to truly love a dog!
You are so good!! Rua looks stunning!!
You are a really great sewer, I'm impressed! Rua is adorable in her outfits.
Hey while I'm not into dressing up my dog (I also have zero sewing skills...can I send you my winter tights with holes in the toes? Or maybe that's what Laurie calls feigned incompetence), Rua looks cute and if you're having fun doing it...more power to you!
I fall into the Adina school of sewing here (well, I can do buttons and hems at a stretch) and if I dressed up Riley my partner would file for separation, I am in total awe of your skills and love seeing Rua in her little costumes.  I'm looking forward to seeing  pictures of Princess Rua soon.
Oh yeah... I forgot... I do hems too... it's called "HEMS ALA TAPE" - lol
I think you must start taking that photo of Rua with you to the fabric store.  I particularly like the one where she is in a little dress and laying flat on the floor!  If my girls were as small as Rua they would probably be dressing up as well.  At the Sauerkraut Festival last week-end there was a lady with a booth and she made lots of little dog dresses.  The traveled around to Doggie Boutiques and sold them.
Dori, Keep on sewing! You are happy and Rua is happy....sounds like it is working to me. Rua looks adorable too.
Now I wish I would have thought of it sooner and could sew.  Natalie is dressing up as a poodle for halloween...would have been fun to dress up Rosco or Boca as something and take one of them along at the downtown candy fest that afternoon!  What should a doodle be if the kid is a poodle?
Why a kid of course!
