Ok, fall has been horrible with all the mud being tracked in!  I'm taking Rosie today to have her shaved down and then I think I'll do the same next Spring!  Hmmmmm..... wonder what my dog is going to look like.  It's kind of exciting having a dog that can have different styles!  I could have a poodle one week and a doodle a month later!  =)  I'll post pics later!

Aren't you afraid she'll be cold up there in your brutal winter?  I always trim up Paddy's feet but I grow him out in the winter and ours are milder than yours.  Unlike a lot of others here, I have no issue with shaving my dog down in warm weather -- he's more comfortable and if we go to the beach, he's easier to free up from the sand and saltwater.  But in the winter, as messy as he can be, he needs his coat to stay warm.

Hi Trudy, yes I did think about that.  I guess I should have said I'm not shaving her bald.  Probably 1/2 inch all over.  Just shorter than what she is now.  And.... her hair grows SO fast!  She will be a couple inches by snow fall!  =)

I guess Paddy's grows more slowly.  We haven't trimmed his body in about 2 months now, and he's just about an inch all over.  Hard to tell, because it's all tight curls!

Toby got shaved down in September, and he and I both loved it.  He was full of energy and spunk, and loved his short hair.  No worries about matts, mud, excess water in the house - nothing.  It's lovely.  He never seems to get cold, so we're good.  :)

How short did you shave him, Sandy?

Thanks for sharing!  =)

Ok!  She is done!  They did an awesome job.  I cannot BELIEVE how soft her coat is!  So glad I did this!  Here is the before pic

And, here she is after....

Oh, wow, she looks GREAT!  While I occasionally like my boy shaggy, I do think he looks better trimmed up, and so does Rosie -- even though the "before" picture is WAY cute!

Yea Trudy, I really LOVE the shaggy look as well.  However, we have had a lot of rain this fall and I'm just sick of mopping daily.  She still has enough fur to keep her warm (her coat is amazingly thick), yet she is cleaned up enough to bring less debris in with her.  Her hair is so straight now it's kind of funny!  She certainly looks poodle-ish.  Whatever she looks like we love her to death!  =)  P.S. looked at your pics.... SOOOO CUTE!!!!

LOL, when Paddy's coat grows out, we call him Rasta-dog because he is just covered with dreads (you can see on his Christmas picture).  Caring for that kinky coat becomes a full-time job so we trim him up at the first opportunity.  But the rasta-dog look is cute, I have to admit -- even though people who think he's a poodle give me a hard time about not grooming him!

I find it's the way the head's cut that decides whether they look like poodles.  I don't think Rosie looks anything like a poodle with this new cut, but it's hard to tell without a closeup.  In any case, she is adorable.

Rosie, you look beautiful, almost makes me want to take Quincy in for a good trim.
