Honestly, Toby MUST go into the bathroom with me every time I go in. If the door is not closed tight he barges right on in. If the door is closed all the way he plops right down at the door. This is for normal bathroom use or even bathroom cleaning. He also must be right with me when I vacuum too.
Just curious to know if this is a common behavior or not.

You know, I think the constant licking can become an irritating problem. We haven't had that issue too much but Toby does like to lick me if I have lotion on. You might start a thread about that and get more input. I would like to know myself!
Yes, my Doodle does like to stare.....like a " peeping doodle"........she follows me everywhere....she's very curious, or just plain nosey..?
My husband calls them my "Posse." Wherever I go I have three fur babies follow. The bathroom is just one of those quiet places for them to get scratched. I'm a captive audience there and not on the move. So they think I go in there just for them.
"So they think I go in there just for them." Maybe that's it! I got a good chuckle from that Lynne!
Our Holly, a 6-month old Goldendoodle, is always right with either my wife or me. In fact, if we are together and Holly isn't right there with us - we start looking for her. We have our Holly and four Maltese (we used to raise purebred Maltese and now these are just our pets) and will usually have all of them around us when we are sitting on the ceramic throne. It can get pretty crowded in a small bathroom.
Sounds like a cause for celebration!
Both our dogs, Groucho Too and Hondo, follow both of us into the bathroom no matter what we are doing in there. We have pocket doors on the bathrooms and they can open the doors, but they will both wait just outside the door if the door is locked. They seem to say, "Hey, you are just sitting there doing nothing, why not give us some scratches?" If I use a public bathroom in a park or a rest stop, they want to come into the stall if there is room, or they lie down outside and put their heads under the door to make sure I am still there. Extreme dedication, curiosity? Call it what you like, but they always want to be close.
Jersey does the same thing. After she comes in, she pushes the door to shut it. My lab gets on the other side in the hallway and pushes it back open. Jersey pushes it back to her and they continue this, until I am finished in there. Jersey also tries to go in the bathroom with other people too. They are not always thrilled about that.
Heeheee...that sounds like a funny sight to see/hear.
This must be a doodle trait...lol. Ari follows me everywhere! And I literally mean everywhere! If I go into the bathroom and shut the door on him, he pushes the door with the side of his body hoping that he can pop it open. And when that doesn't work, he just taps the door with his paw until I come out. He's very clingy and always has to have either me or my husband in his sight. Luckily he's not home alone very often - I'm sure he's quite sad when he has no human contact...lol :)
we have often said we named Dallas the wrong thing, I should have called her Shadow as she follows me everywhere. I miss her the minute she is not there as I am so used to stepping over her and yes the bathroom as well, as the tub. She loves to hang her head over the side to see what I am doing.
Hubby was just asking last night "where did everyone go?" In the bathroom with mom of course!
Buddy hanging out in the tub, cool and nosy sister Kona won't follow him in, and Kona laying next to the sink guarding the door. They both want their butts scratched too as they follow me in and find their spots :)
