Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I am a resident of Penna. We have an awesome rescue group called "Dogs Deserve Better" The founder seeks mostly dogs on chains for rescue. She has in fact chained herself at a dog house at our state capital for 30 days at a time to try to get our lame state to do better with our lame regulations. I've seen her, she's a tough nut and rocks. Her organization has recently purchased the Michael Vick house, it is here they have established a dog rescue site. They have taken that beautiful mansion and put dogs everywhere!
Anyway, I digress. If I were to spend money every time I wanted to save a dog or give, I would have no salary. So I have purchased a book by her: "Scream Like A Banshee" by the founder: Tamira Ci Thayne. The book is for Foster Parents. I purchased 2. I am not a foster but wish to be someday. I have read 1/2 of the book and it rocks. I am offering my second book for free for the first person that answers this offer. I would like to have this book passed around to all the fosters of doodles or any other foster that can use an upbeat reminder of what its all about.
I figure I supported one foster group and wish to pass on the benefit to our foster groups.
Please PM me if you are interested. I will send no fees attached. My gift to any foster doing it...... Happy Holidays.

Sharon this is very kind of you.
Some of us who have been involved in rescue for a long time may not be responding because we have already read the book, and would like it to go to someone who may not already have this information.
It's a wonderful book, written by a very amazing lady.
For anyone who is interested, here's a link to the book on Amazon, where you can "look inside" and read some of it:

Well ladies and gents, my first request goes to Ronna, Murphy & Wilson. It would appear that Ronna is willing to share and forward. I do hope that the book moves on to any and all of you that are interested. Wishing all of you a very merry holiday, I do have a copy that I bought for myself, so if the sale of such is so much so..;...I have an extra copy. Happy Holidays everyone.
I never heard of this book and would really like to buy it. Is it available in bookstores?
It's available through Amazon, see my link on the preceding page, you can read an excerpt, too.
I'm not a foster, and won't be able to foster for a really long time, but can see myself doing this one day. I don't want to take the book from others who would benefit more immediately, but I would love it if it made it's way to me one day.
Sharon, thanks for your generous offer. What a wonderful way to pay it forward. I am sure this will be passed again and again.
Sharon - that was a very generous offer. I would have replied earlier but as I have a foster right now I don't have as much time on DK as I sometimes do. Don't be discouraged that people didn't respond right away. Ronna will put the book to good use and it will become the fosters version of the traveling pants!
Yep! Can't wait to read it and pass it on!
I'd like to read it please!
Scot, I would not consider how your family kept dogs as being mean. They had all that space to run and play. Chained dogs usually never get to run, and most times than not, they are simply abandoned and tied to their house outside. If you read the links that were posted for Dogs Deserve Better website, you'll see that the dogs that are rescued are many times also without proper shelter, food and or water.
