Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have heard over and over again about the Les Poochs brushes and I have to admit I was skeptical, especially b/c of the price. Well let me tell you.............I am singing a new tune! I purchased the green brush, with the help of Kemp, and WOW what a difference in the brushing experience! Mats that I had previously tried and tried to get out with a regular slicker brush came out so easily.

The Doodle Country Store and Kemp is fabulous! I emailed a picture of Bruno to Kemp and he helped me choose the right brush. The brush was shipped out the same day I ordered it!

Now I am saving  my pennies for the larger brush. I am a true believer now!

Murphy runs and hides behind DH when he sees me go to the grooming cablinet for either a brush, comb, nail clippers or ear cleaners. It's the same cabinet I keep thier treats in so he is smart enough to keep his distance, but still watch to see what comes out.  I just can't imagine your cute little Ned bugging you though. lol

Ned is a major attention hog!  Pushy, pushy, pushy.  If the others - even humans are getting attention, Ned chortles, prances around and jumps on/around you.  If he realizes that I am brushing one of the others, he behaves in the same pushy manner, but if I turn to brush him, he is 'outa here' immediately.

My mom purchased one for Jack and when I first got it, I really like it!!!

I can't say enough about the Les Poochs brush.  My groomer always comments on Brewster's coat.  She says that no other Labradoodle is in such good shape.  I brush him  twice a week.  Always on Tuesday nights while watching "The Biggest Loser"  Oops! Have it go, it's almost time!

I really don't like mine.  Harley fights me like crazy when I use it and it has made me bleed a couple of times when I hit my fingers.

Oh that is too bad. Sorry to hear that. I do find that I have to brush in a different way than I did with all the other slicker type brushes.

I've searched video's trying to see what I'm doing wrong.  If I go slow enough to ensure Im not hurting harley or injuring myself by hitting my hand while I hold the fur up then it takes forever and doesn't seem to get through the fur.

Kathy -- Here is a great video on line brushing using the Les Poochs brush.  It might seem a little slow in the beginning, but once you get going you can move pretty quickly.  This is actually a great series of videos that this lady took the time to put together to show us how to groom.  (I apologize as I can't remember her name but do believe she is a DK member).   I learned a lot from watching these.  I believe there are 4 or maybe even 5 of them (I can't remember exactly).  The secret is just learning to keep your hands out of the way.  I still occasionally catch a finger (and yes, it does hurt).

I think this is Barb @ Gemstone Labradoodles. Not positive. I have watched all her videos and learned so much on grooming. The Les Pooch brush type brushing is very different than we are probably used to with other brushes. It's not like brushing our hair which people think. I have gotten cut with mine too, but it's always been when using it improperly or have a moving target!

Cooper is a Gemstone puppy. I never realized Barb had videos on grooming. *goes to look for them*

oh I just looked at it. that is not Barb from Gemstones, who is a professional groomer. Good videos though

I wasn't crazy about mine at first but I think I was using it wrong. I'll have to go back and give another go!
