Yesterday I had a massive headache, Bodi and DH were fine.  This morning I still had the headache - until I got to school - then it went away . . . when I got home I smelled gas.  We called the gas company and waited out in the OHIO COLD for him to come.  We have a gas leak and we are SAFE as the gas has been turned off.

Bodi did NOT eat this morning and did NOT eat this afternoon.  Sometimes he skips meals, but usually when his big brothers are home from college giving him extra treats.  So I wasn't too concerned.  Then I gave him a few pieces of spaghetti (plain) and he threw those up with some very YELLOW liquid.  Could he be sick from the gas??  Do I need to do anything?  Our emergency vet place doesn't have a good rep. . . . so I'm waiting to hear from the experts - you!!

BTW Bodi is acting perfectly normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call the vet and ask.... you don't want to want to take any chances!   Hope Bodi gets to feeling better soon!

Fresh air is probably the best thing, but I would let your vet check him out as soon as you can, just to make sure.

I'm glad that you are all safe, and hope that all of you feel better soon!

I am so glad you are safe! I would probably call the emergency vet just to be sure. Hope Bodi feels better soon!

When I used to work in the ER people who had gotten sick from Carbon Dioxide that leaked in the house were treated with oxygen masks on full force and IV fluids....

I think a lot of fresh air would help but if it was Jack I would have been in the ER with him already at least to get checked, have his blood work tested to see if he is showing signs of gas poisoning. I have no idea what so ever how a dog can and can not metabolize gas in their system,

As a side note, I have a great little Carbon dioxide and gas detector that blares very loudly if it detects gas....Jack is just 14 pounds and would not last long with an exposure.....I would look into getting one of those as well..

I am so grateful you all are okay...

Thanks Jennifer - I will look into one of those gas detectors!

I know this is late but it's just a thought. Maybe call a different vet ER. Maybe one that is 1-2 hours away. Or one that you know has a great reputation.

Just thinkin outside the box. I am very glad you discovered that it was a gas leak before it was too late.

I just read this and am so glad that you caught that gas leak in time!  Unfortunately, my husband lost a co-worker to a gas leak several years ago and it weighs heavy on our hearts.

As for Bodi.  I think I would take him in to see the ER Vet, just to be safe, even though you haven't heard good things.   All it takes is a blood test to know if it is carbon monoxide poisoning or something else.   Any Vet should be able to handle that.   I would rather be safe than sorry.

Did the gas guy tell you the levels of gas present?  Isn't there some type of instrument that tells them that?  If so, I would think they would have ranges of what certain levels could do to people or animals, like things to look for.  I'd ask the gas company.

I am sorry everyone - I asked for advice and then did not listen, BUT, Bodi is just fine.  No more vomitting - the cheese stayed in and he woke me up nice and early this morning because he was HUNGRY.  He ate his food and licked his bowl clean.  He is acting very "Tigger-like" - bouncing along behind me wherever I go!

I will call my vet this morning when they open.

As for the gas leak, I was not told what level - but it was small as he couldn't find anything at first.  He had to do a pressure test to find the leak.

Jennifer mentioned a carbon monoxide/gas detector which I think is a wonderful idea.  No sniffing the air and wondering .  . .

Thanks to all for your concerns, and I'm lucky it all turned out ok - I know I should listen to you guys!!

I don't think a carbon monoxide detector per se would detect natural gas but I do think they are a must. There are natural gas detectors for homes but I've never heard anyone, fire department etc., recommend them. I wonder why not. The odor of natural gas is something they add so that we can smell it.

Here is an article on using natural gas detectors.

Thank you F.  I 'll be looking into a detector.

Thanks for the update, I'm so glad that  everyone is feeling better. Let us know what your vet says when you get a chance to speak to him/her,
