Just wondering...

For those of you with more than 1 dog.....do your dogs not eat at the same exact time?  We put Stella and Seamus' food down always at the same time.  They each have their own bowl.  Normally, Seamus will begin to eat first, so Stella lays down and will wait until he's done to eat her food  (EVERY TIME).  We thought...okay, he is more dominant so she lets him eat first.  Well, the other day, Stella must have been really hungry, so she began to eat first.  Seamus lay down and wait until Stella was done!!  We just find this so funny and wondered if anyone else's dogs do this??  I always try to analyze my dogs' behavior...lol and this just struck me as pretty funny.

I don't know about anyone else, but we have had multiple dogs for many, many years. We have always fed them at the same time and in the same area from their own bowls. There was never an issue of them eating out of one another's bowls. When Kona and Owen finish eating they go to check out the other's bowl just in case a morsel might have been missed but there never is.

Oh yes, Bella does have to investigate Murphy's bowl to check for any crumbs, but like you said there are never any even the tiniest morsel left. I'm hoping she will give up as she looks so sad when she looks at his bowl. I had to use the slow feeder bowl for Murphy as a younger dog and then about 6 months ago he just started slowing down all on his own. Bella eats like her tail is on fire.

Except for maybe Thule's first year with us a few years ago, ALL my dogs (even when there were 3) would eat at the same time...all of them enthusiastically.

No, but my cats do this.  Every time!  It is some unspoken etiquette between them.

I had such a good time reading these responses!  I guess my 2 are super polite to each other...LOL yea right! 

Stella and Seamus will check out each other's bowls to make sure every tidbit is gone, but they still don't eat at the same time.  When they start lining up to eat, I'll be impressed  =)

My two eat at the same time, and its like they are having a race, as soon as there done they switch bowls.  They have a lick to see if the other missed any lol, never, worth the try I guess.
