The goal here is to post great places to take your doodle.
I will be posting some information here soon but in the mean time where are your favorite places to take your dood?
A new review of the Hanover dog park. We visited this park today and found it to be great. I highly recommend checking this park out. It may be a bit out of the way but will worth it. They have some agility "toys" and even a "time out" pen, bags to pick up after your dog and running water. Here is the website http://www.co.hanover.va.us/anmlctrl/dog-park.htm
Adding another Hot Spot to the discussion is Bandy Park.
We took Stella there for the first time yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great “not known as” a dog park. Now when I say, “not known as” I mean it is NOT a dog park. It is a Nature preserve/trail! But amazingly the dogs and nature are one here at Bandy Field. When first pulling up we witnessed a few people walking their dog (off leash) at the edge of the field on the trail and both with very well behaved dogs. We jumped out with Stella and took off through the small batch of trees because Stella loves tromping through the woods. Once in the woods we took her off leash and that is when we encountered another dog of which Stella did not see coming and scared the crap out of her. I tried to warn her but she was just too wrapped up in smelling everything. Once we got through the woods we came to a large open field where we found lots and lots of dogs running off leash playing with their owners and other dogs…. It was a beautiful site. We proceeded to play and walk the trail at Bandy field. We then met another doodle named Doodle. He was a beautiful black doodle and he had a little spaniel bother or sister. We walked some more and met several Labs of all different colors and some Australian Shepherds and the list goes on. All in all it was a great walk on a chilly Sunday afternoon and I would highly recommend visiting this field but remember as stated on the post…there is a leash law. So if you get a ticket, don’t blame me but it will be worth it! Check out the link to the site. There is some really cool history to the field itself. http://bandyfield.rrpfoundation.org/
There is a small dog park just south of the river in Westover Hills on Forest Hill Avenue. It is located in front ofPresbyterian Church on Forest Hill Avenue (# 4401 Forest Hill). We've never taken the pups to the park but it may be a good location for a Doodle Romp.
