HGE??(Hemorrhagic Gastro-enteritis)

I am so upset right now, I can barely see the screen through my tears. My beautiful Jaxon has been having diarrhea for a couple of days, and then started vomiting last night. I decided to take him in to the vet, and am so glad I did. There was a lot of blood in his stool/rectum and the vet has kept him in to give him IV fluids, antibiotics and anti-nausea meds.  I just feel so sad, helpless, and hoping and praying he is going to be ok.  The vet said it was probably something he ate and called it "hemorrhagic gastro-enteritis", but wants to treat it aggressively.  Has anyone had any experiences with this. Of course I had to "google" it, and have scared myself half to death with all the "could-be's".  After calling my hubby my first thought was to come on DK and get some support. Thanks ahead of time. My other 2 doods are feeling my sadness too....

Sorry about your sick doodle! I'm so worried about all the sick doodles. We need a magic spell so we can create a world where all the doodles are happy and healthy and live forever! Does anyone know what that magic spell is??

Nina, I was thinking about you and Jane all night.  Have you heard anything from the Vet yet today?  I'm hoping that get more information today so that you know what you're dealing with.  Sending hugs and prayers for you and Jaxon.

Thanks again for everyone's concern and support. It means a lot! It is still early out here on the west coast, so have no news yet. Had a rough night (me!).  Will keep you posted..

Yeah, Jaxie is home!!!  He's on meds and a special diet, and limited exercise for a while.  He was so glad to get home...and we are all relieved he is on the mend!!!  It was worth the vet bill!!!
