Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know this is a doodle forum but it is so much more. My very dear friend Jerry Cahill who is an icon in the Cystic Fibrosis world received a call to get a lung transplant. He got the call at 4 30. I just spoke to him, he is still waiting to hear if it is a go or not.

The lungs are coming from out of state. He is in NYC so we are waiting... Please pray for him, send him good vibes and anything else you can.

He means a lot to me.... and like I said he is a roll model and inspiration to so many people. If you want to follow his story. He is on Face Book you can like his Page, Jerry Cahill.

Any and all prayers for him and also for the poor family that lost their loved one and yet so lovingly was willing to donate organs to save others lives.

I have several friends who have had lung transplants and are doing great, I have also lost two of my closest friends to lung transplants that turned septic.

Jerry is in the best possible shape, and he jogged on a regular basis with his oxygen.

Thanks for the prayers for this real live Super Man

I will pray that he has the transplant and that it is successful. You are right, Jennifer, people need to donate their organs. I know there are some scandals out there right now regarding harvest organizations selling organs, but hopefully this is small potatoes when compared to the gift an organ can bring.

Thinking of him...

Praying hard! A famiy friend just had a heart transplant, so i know how difficut this wait is. And i completely agree about organ donation, i am a donor and wouldnt have it any other way.

I'm hoping hard that your friend gets his transplant and that it is successful giving him a good quality of life for ever after.

Good luck to your friend ... and prayers for a successful transplant.  Depending on the donor family he should be able to write a letter to them after the transplant.  Sometimes donor families want to be contacted from a recepient and other times not.  His surgical team will be able to provide the contact information.

We are happy to send our prayers along - we wish for him the very best and God bless the donor's family - what a beautiful thing.

Wishing for a wonderful outcome for Jerry...please let us know.

I am praying for Jerry. Hope everything goes well - also praying for the family who lost their loved one. Let us
know how it turns out. You sound like such a good friend- he is lucky to have you!!

Jen-Just seeing this now, sending our biggest prayers his way! Sounds like an amazing person!

I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you, very long night and then I had my own doctors appointments all day. The lungs were a no go. That happens sometimes, they call it a dry run. The transplant surgeon who is responsible for Iimplanting the new lungs also harvests the lungs....

It took 12 hours but the surgeon decided the lungs were not good enough to transplant so he was sent back home at about 4 am.

His attitude is outstanding and he actually is coaching his pole vault team tonight. He is dually listed at UPENN and Columbia Presbeterian in NYC.

Like I said before I lost two very close friends that did not survive transplant because by the time lungs became available they were really way tomsickmto survive transplant.

Jerry is I. Top notch shape and actually could probably put run most of us on here as long as he has his oxygen on. He is my hero and I adore him

Thanks for the prayers, I will, update again when the next call comes in. Columbia is a little slow I. Getting lung offers so we pray even harder!!!

How disappointing....I'm sorry this didn't work out.  Please keep us posted, Jennifer.

Oh, I am so sorry to read this and will pray for your friend.
