I was just bitten at the dog park . . .

Nothing major - I just washed it and put first aid ointment on it.  The dog that bit me (of three Puggles - I'm not sure which one) is up to date on shots so I'm not worried.  It was so strange - I've always heard that you should never jump into the middle of a dog fight but when that dog(s) went after my baby - I never took time to even think.  I ran about 15 feet and literally took a flying tackle onto Stuart and kept right on rolling taking all 70 lbs of him with me and out of harms way.  During the leap and roll one of the Puggles chomped into my thigh.  In an ironic twist I didn't have on my usual outfit - a tennis or golf skirt - I actually had on running tights to below my knee - saved me from a worse injury, plus cellulite is hard to puncture.  I've never trusted those Puggles and now know that my gut instinct was correct.  One of them attacked Stuart over a ball and the rest jumped in.  The owners feel bad but nobody actually saw it get started so they aren't going to accept any real blame, and all I know is that Stuart is so gentle and unassertive but when attacked he went into defense mode to protect himself, a real 1st.  It WAS a stupid move on my part but without thinking I was willing to do whatever it took to protect him just on instinct.  I think tomorrow that I'm going to be sore from head to toe.

Ouch!   I totally understand what you did though!   I would have done the same thing, without even thinking.   Hope neither of you suffer any repercussions.  Damn those puggles!   Hugs to you both!

How horrible!!! I have to admit I would of of dived in myself!!! This is my biggest fear with Amante!! I have ha a few situation that have gotten close. I started carry HAULT with me. I would definitely protect my baby first it is just instinct. My DH tells me to think first, but Doodle mom hormone kicks in and I turn into Body Guard from H&ll!

Hope you are not to sore tomorrow! I would definitely get some antibiotics!!

Oh Jane....I'm so glad you're ok..(more or less)....and that Stuart's alright.   I'm always leery when there's a group of dogs together....you just never know!

Well Jane... don't feel too bad because I probably would have done the same thing, we all would do anything for our doodles.  You were just acting on your instinct as most of us would.  Your leg looks really sore and tender... rest up and feel better.

I would gladly take a bite for Gavin.  My last trip to the dog park (about a year ago now) two large husky brothers had Gavin pinned.  One had him by the neck pinned to the ground and the other was trying to hump him.  The owner did nothing so I marched right in and hauled them off of poor Gav.  Hope you feel better and for sure get to the doctor.  I had a friend who got into some real trouble with infection from a cat bite.

Good for you for doing what you did. I also had to do something similar. It's so upsetting and I'm glad Stuart and Rooney are both ok. Heal fast! You did good!

OUCH! Those little things can bite! Glad you AND Stuart are ok. I think that is the reaction most of us would have.

Dog parks are scary. I know it's one you go to often so how long before you return? Do you think Stuart will be fine going back?

Rude dog owners, alligators, and now this!!!  One more reason to get out!!

I'm sure I would have jumped in if I'd been faced with a similar situation.  During my years teaching middle school, I frequently inserted myself (all 5' 0" and 100 lbs. of me) in between participants in a fight - sometimes some really big and mean eighth grade boys!  If I'd risk life and limb for a job, you can bet I'd be jumping in to save my baby!!!
