Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that Mindy’s once perfect, adorable, shiny black nose has started turning brown, and it’s getting lighter and lighter on the tip. Mindy’s almost a year and a half old, so I don’t know if this is something that commonly happens in younger dogs, or what. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The same thing happened to our puppy a few months ago. It is sometimes referred to as "snow nose" because it happens in winter to lighter colored dogs. Once summer comes the nose is supposed to turn black again.

At least I know we're not alone! :) I've read about snow nose, and I wondered if it could be that. It'll be interesting to see what happens as the weather warms up.

Oddly, my "Coco" had a brown nose from birth....he's chocolate in color....I've been waiting for it to turn black, but maybe it won't....he's a little over 3 months old....bizarre

I've only heard about noses randomly losing pigment, not going darker. But it means nothing that I haven't seen anything about it, since I've only been searching instances of noses going lighter. ;-)

It's funny, because when we went to the breeder to see Mindy, my first thought was, "Yay, she's got a black nose!" So for it to be changing 17 months after birth seems a little odd. Mindy's boyfriend, Oliver (another blonde Doodle), had a dark brown nose as a pup, and it's been getting progressively lighter - now he's even got a bit of a pink spot. I guess I'll just have to see what happens!

I don't know about choc doodles, but I had chocolate st. poodles growing up and both had a reddish/brown nose and eye rims that remained so throughout their lives.   They are so gorgeous!

Lucy's nose lightened up too, once she turned about 2 (I really can't say exactly when I noticed it). I keep teasing that I'm going to use a black permanent marker on it...lol. I miss the black nose. It will be interesting to see if it does darken this summer.

I keep joking about that, too - Sharpie marker or shoe polish. ;-)

LOL!  I know just what you are going through!  I do know that Luke's mom is a rose nose, so I am not really surprised....here's how it went for Luke...

This is what Luke's nose looked like on the day we picked him out... 6 or 7 weeks old. Nice and shiny black...

By the time we got him home at 9 weeks, his nose had some rosy spots...

Here he is at about 9 months...he looks like someone rubbed *most* of the black off his nose.  We tease him and say that we are going to put shoe polish on his nose to get it back to the right color.  Or we will tattoo it black...

No we won't!  He's adorable to me, regardless of the color of his nose!

Luke is so beautiful!   Beautiful rich colour!

Thanks!  He's pretty cute in person, too.  So bouncy/happy.  I love that pup!

Gorgeous pup, regardless of nose color. :)

We think Luna has "Snow nose" - it didn't show up her first Winter but it did this time around (at ~1.5 years old):

At 8 months with a black nose:

At about 1.5 years old with a "rosey"/"liver" nose
