Most of you know Hurley...

When he was selected for The Doodle Messenger I emailed his breeder. She had said that if he was selected with them she would donate money for his surgery. So I emailed her a link and said Thank You for helping him...she never emailed me back. I am wondering if I should resend the email or just leave it alone? I don't want her thinking I am bothering her or begging for money.

I am not trying to get the whole surgery paid for..we are saving up money too! She has always replied back to all my emails. This one she didn't...do you think another email to her about The Doodle Messenger?

Thank you all for your advice, kindness and donations! Hurley is doing good. His infection is looking so much better! These antibotics are working! Once his vet sees him on the 24th we should get a date for his surgery!!!

Thank you!

Ok..! It has been on my mind...i just thought she would of sent something to me...

I will tell her I didn't know if she got it...I hate bothering people...!

Goodness...I need to get stronger than this..!

Regina, I would write her one more time and just say, "here is the link for the Doodle Messenger."  If she is a good breeder she should want to know about the dogs she is selling and any problems they might be having. Good luck!

I know you have shown extreme kindness to your breeder and that is most likely because of your love of Hurley.  For my part I feel she/he has let you down and perhaps other owners too. If she was really interested she would want to know all the details of Hurley's disease and would be contacting his vets to see if they thought there was any genetic component to it and whether she should repeat that pairing going forward in her breeding program.   She/he would also be contacting you to see how Hurley is, never mind contributing to his surgery.  Sorry to throw that into the mix but I have a hard spot for some breeders and a very soft spot for others.  The jury is still out on Hurley's for me but I know which side I am erring on......

Thank you..you don't have to say you are sorry! You guys have been wonderful to us..I trust what you have to say. You all have helped us out so much. I have been so focused on Hurley and getting him taken care of..

I got in touch with the breeder and emailed her the biopsy. She said she would donate to Hurleys surgery. The jury is still out for me too....

I will email her today....

Before resending the e-mail, call your vet and see if they have made a list of donors. When I donated they didn't ask my name but I am sure they got it off my credit card.  If your breeder donated perhaps they have her name.

They did not ask for my name either.  I asked her if they needed the name on the credit card I gave her and she said it was not necessary unless I wanted to give it.  I would think they would be making a list of donors and the amounts so Regina could tell where the money is coming from and where she stands on the balance still needed for Hurley's surgeries.

I thought it was a little odd that they didn't ask for the name on the card as well.

I sent a check. Somehow it seemed like a better idea to me. I hope their bookkeeping is good.

Hey! Dr. Judy, The Doodle Messenger, told me I will not get a list of names of who donated. I will be able to see what my credit is toward his surgery..

I am going to write her another email and give her the link..she if she responds!

Sounds about right Nicky-she should be following up and following his story.

I agree with Nicki, I would expect my breeder to be very interested if something this serious happened to one of her pups. I know it's not life threatening, but it certainly could have a different outcome if other pups are not given to the same type of caring person you are. They could be dumped at a shelter just because it's too much for some to deal with. This is going to alter his looks which is no big deal, but left untreated it certainly would've altered his quality of life.
My Murphy's brother has a cyst on his back hindquarters and his owners have had it drained and biopsies and are watching it as it hasn't changed much. I don't think she has discussed this with our breeder, but I have faith in the fact that if she did know that it was a problem and needed surgery, that she would be in contact with them and monitoring his progress. I check my Murphy constantly for the same problem as they are brothers and we don't know why he has one.
Let's hope she just went ahead and donated and didn't think to tell you or figured you'd get the names from the vet.

I agree with everyone here.  I honestly think that maybe she feels she is doing you a big favor for donating, and in my opinion, she owes it to you, and more.  I'm not saying it's her fault.  Perhaps she had no way of knowing about this.  I get that.  But...she should feel somewhat responsible and willing to help you.  After all you DO have a health contact!
