Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I've read a variety of published warranties from breeders, as well as forum discussions and guidelines on what to look for and what is good, and what is minimal.

Some of the differences have prompted some questions that I wanted to get input on -

RE HIP DYSPLASIA

Is a warranty that covers severe dysplasia adquate (versus any diagnosed level of hip dysplasia)?

RE SUPPLEMENTS

Is a warranty that requires the use of supplements acceptable?

RE WARRANTY PROVISIONS

Some provide for a replacement without needing to surrender the original puppy/dog, while others have a provision for an option of a monetary reimbursement towards the medical expenses up the original purchase price.  Thoughts on pros and cons of each?

Thanks in advance!

Nothing turned up for either the kennel name, or the owner name...

OK.

Please tell me, that you are not falling for a BLUE -EYED Doodle. If you are, please search the information here and on the web.

nope - eye color not even a factor...

As for the breeder with this food deal--are they in Ohio by chance?

Not a food deal; Nu-Vet vitamins required (the breeder gets commission when you order them) or the health warranty is void. Same company also sells food thru breeders.

The breeder I am referencing does not include food in their contract - supplement only (and I understand it to be contunitation of the care/program she uses).

However, yes, she is in Ohio.

If a dog is fed a good food (see the food group) it does not need supplements.

My mistake. I re-read the post.  Thanks

I mentioned GANA yesterday.

This is a helpful link.  A must see. http://goldendoodleassociation.com/home.aspx

Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA) is the first and only breed club established for the Goldendoodle. A registry database has been created to document lineage. Membership is limited to breeders that provide proof of health clearances achieved on all their breeding dogs and that have agreed to a Code of Ethics regarding their breeding practices and the care of their dogs. To ensure you are working with a breeder that meets these standards, look for the GANA logo on their website.

Just a reminder - there are many reputable breeders that are not members of GANA or any group.  (For many reasons.)

Oh, I totally agree, however she is doing research and this would be a good source. Not a recommendation.
