I just dropped off Hurley to get his stiches removed. They will sedate him and remove them. He has a lot of stitches so it's better to sedate him. I will pick him up a little after 1 pm today. Dr. Marti will call me later this afternoon to let me know when he wants to do surgery #2....he told me if he looks really good and likes the way it has healed it will be done very soon...i know Hurley has healed very well with his incision site. We have had two little "bumps" we have hit, but they were not incision related.

I hate that Hurley will be getting another surgery again, but I have to remember that he needs these surgeries to have a long life. Right now he is going through a lot, but next year this time I know he will have his hair grown back on his head, have no cysts, running at the dog park, being able to be a "dog" and all this will be behind us....

UPDATE:
Just picked up Hurley!! He is doing great...!! Looks good without stitches!

FRIDAY is surgery #2.....
Another hurdle we will jump together....i know he is going to be so confused but this is what is going to give him a long and healthy life!! I hat shaving back to back surgeries, but we don't need the remaining cysts on top rupturing...we need them off as soon as possible....

Thank you for keeping Hurley in your prayers and helping him in every way get through this...!! It's because of you all that is has gotten this far...!! One surgery down, just one more to go!! Thank you for helping to save my dog....!! He is doing really good :) I love you all....and Hurley too!!

Yes, it will all be behind you--hang in there!!!

Good luck today, Hurley!

Good luck, Hurley.  Yes, just hang in there.  He'll be back to normal in good time.

I'll be thinking of Hurley today, as I, too, am getting some stitches removed today.  Back in January, I had a spot of stage zero melanoma removed from my cheek - by the time they were done with the "reconstruction" my wound looked a lot like Hurley's!  Anyhow, everything healed up nicely except one spot that was puckery, so last week I had a scar revision.  Unlike Hurley, I'm not going to be able to hide my scars with fur, so I want it to be as smooth as possible.

Anyway, will be thinking good thoughts as your medical journey with Hurley continues!!

Good luck to you, too, Deanna!

Deanna - I'm so happy for you that they caught it so early although it still had to have been scary.  I'll be crossing my fingers for you and Hurley that everything goes well today!!!!

I too am glad you found the melanoma so early. We need to all remember as far as our skin, the sun is not our friend.

@ Karen, Jane, and F - Thanks!!  I am now stitch free - and I think I'll have a better, less puckery outcome this time.  And yes, F, we all need to be mindful of the sun!!!

Yippee! Nothing but good news - Good Luck Hurley Big Boy!

Good Luck to you Hurley & To you too Deanna!

Thanks :)

Hope all goes well! Thinking of you and Hurley!!!
