Parvo and other general doodle questions

Do any of you have experience with doodles and parvo?

My wife and I brought home our first puppy together on Tuesday, saw a definite change in energy level/willingness to eat on thursday and friday, and had a positive parvo test on Saturday. I feel terrible we did not take her to the vet on thurs or friday, but we figured (and were counseled by the breeder) that the decrease in energy was due to lack of food and that the lack of food was due to all the change in the puppies life (food, environment, etc). 

The vet is optimistic that we can keep her healthy and get through it, but I don't think either of us will have much confidence until she is home and healthy. We visited her today and she wagged her tail when we walked in, but feel asleep against our legs as soon as we sat down next to her. Looks like she still has a way to go. 

We have a few questions that I hope you can help us answer. We have not been able to speak with our vet (weekend), but the information from the 24hr clinic vet, my uncle (vet), and random google seraches leaves us a little confused. 

1. We're cleaning (washing with bleach) all of her toys, bedding, and crate. I don't plan on getting another puppy anytime soon and don't want to kill the entire backyard, would it be irresponsible not to bleach the yard?

2. We intended on enrolling her in local puppy classes and maybe some later training classes, will we have a hard time getting in once willow is back and recovered?

3. I don't want to spread any info on the breeder until I know if they will reimburse expenses. I don't have much visibility to the breeder world - how common is it for responsible and legitimate breeders to have parvo outbreaks? I'll never understand how the breeder didn't make me aware that they had a puppy from Willow's litter returned to them with confirmed (twice confirmed, at that) case of parvo. They claim they thought it was a false positive, but I am convinced she should have told me when I called to ask about willows symptoms (after the other puppy had been returned and tested twice).

Oh, willow is so sweet looking. I'm sorry you are still struggling with this but I would think every day she gets a little stronger. I hope she's much better in a couple of days.

I commend you for sticking by Willow and I hope she makes a speedy recovery. I also hope you recoup every penny that you have spent from that "so called breeder." Such a sweet puppy!!

So sorry you are going thoug this.  Sending positive thoughts and prayers for Willow.  She sure is a cutie!

This is just breaking my heart!  I add my prayers to everyone's that Willow can fight her way through this.  No legitimate breeder would have ever let this happen.  My Rooney's breeder - whenever you visit her house (and you should be allowed to visit - big red flag if not allowed) she makes you stand on the front sidewalk where she sprays the bottoms of your shoes with a bleach mixture, then you remove them and enter in stocking feet.  This after being warned to not stop in a public place on the way over and when you leave with a new puppy - no stopping in a rest stop/gas station - any public place where people walk their dogs.  Over kill - no - and this is an example of why.  Whom ever this person was (I'll not use the term breeder) - should not be allowed to remain in business.  I'd be making some phone calls to her county animal control and complaining that she is spreading parvo, I'd also sue her.

My heart is breaking for little Willow.  I am hoping hard that she makes a full recovery.  I do hope you give that so called breeder everything she deserves.  When I visited Riley's breeder I had to have my shoes sprayed and had to remove them and wear slippers she gave me before I entered the house.  I don't know any responsible breeder that would send a puppy home with any questions at all that they may have been exposed to Parvo.  At the very least I do hope that this breeder will pick up the (large) vet bill.  I also wonder if following an episode of Parvo that the puppy will be weakened and have any lasting effects from what is a very serious illness.

Prayers go out to Willow and your family, Ward.  She looks like such a sweet little girl.  In your last photo from today she does seem to have some brightness in her eyes.  I hope that she is able to rebound from this horrible illness.  Please keep us posted, my heart is aching for her.

Willow is adorable!  No puppy should have to go through this and what a horrible time for you!  I can't even print what I think of the "breeder" - hope she gets what she deserves!  Thoughts and prayers are with you!  Stay strong and stay "pawsitive"! (and give an extra hug to Willow from me!!!)

Thank you for the update. I really hope she pulls through this, she looks so small, thin and frail. But it sounds like she is getting the best care. I too would not want her unsupervised at night due the the seriousness of her illness. I would also look into sueing the breeder - hopefully put her out of business, this person should NOT be breeding dogs
