Does Your Doodle ALWAYS Have To Have Something In It's Mouth?

One thing I've noticed about Lani is she ALWAYS has to have something in her mouth whether it be a ball, a toy, a sock, a t-shirt that happened to be laying around, or her sister's beloved fresh bone from the Farmer's Market.  Lani's retriever instincts are pretty dominent and I did find the labrador connection with her.  Do other people find their ALDs or Labradoodles must ALWAYS have something in their mouth?  She just came back from the groomer (got an extreme summer haircut) and first thing she does when she gets in the house is pick up her sister's bone and taunt her sister, lol.  The picture below is basically Lani saying "Haha sister I got your bone and you are NEVER getting it back!"

Cooper always grabs a stuffie when we come home. If there isnt one nearby she will grab whatever soft thing is nearby. In winter it was always my slippers. She doesnt give it to us - if we take it she goes gets something else. But she has to have something in her mouth to greet us!

When I walk Bailey she always picks up a stick and carries it in her mouth.

Our Goldendoodles always, and I mean always greet us at the door with something, anything they can reach in their mouths. It's like a gift.

Murphy always greets us with something in his mouth but otherwise the majority of the day they both just pick up Chewies off and on. There is always 3-4 in each room. Murphy will come see who is at the door, turn right around and frantically look for something of his to bring us. I always ask him what treasure am I getting today? He never really gives it to me though and drops it once we are all in. Always wondered why and where this habit came from.

My dogs don't always have something in their mouths, but often, often, often.  If it isn't in their mouth then they are resting their chins on it.

Roxie (our English Bulldog) does the whole bring you a preesent when you come in the house. The other day she gave me a shoe because she couldn't find a toy, and the other day when my sister-in-law came over.and Rox couldn't find a toy fast enough she grabbed the remote control to the tv and gave it to her lol. Lan doesn't greet you with a toy but must always have something in her mouth. She drives Rox up a wall. Lan will be sitting next to you for a half hour with a ball in her mouth. Not playing with it, just holding it.

Yes.. Yes.. Yes.. But I've a groodle and she will carry a leaf, toy, sock,Shoes sometimes picks up two items and will usually present it to us as a gift.....My husband usually gets a gift every morning in bed.
She takes a soft toy to bed every night and brings it out again in the morning and will lie down and rest her head on it.

My Sasha (goldendoodle) always picks up a toy when I come into the house or I am walking to the back door to let them out.  I have to always make her sit before she goes out and hand over what ever she has picked up.  We have inside toys and outside toys.  My Oliver (labradoodle) could care less and never needs anything to hold on to !!!  But when Sasha is playing quietly with a toy Ollie has to walk over to her and take it away :(

When Gus (labradoodle)  is laying down he doesn't, but as soon as he gets up he gets a rawhide chew, a stuffy, or a milk bone. He has to take a milkbone outside with him. He uses these items to also "herd" us around the house. He especially like to "herd" my poodle when he wants to go out. Sometimes he has 3 or 4 things in his mouth at once, and he always greets people at the door with something in his mouth.

Knox ALWAYS greets us (and company!) with a toy in his mouth!  We think it's such a cute behavior!
