Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Our new little goldendoodle, Milton, is such a cuddly dog. He is only 11 weeks old, but he loves to be held, carried, and petted. He constantly climbs into our laps to just sit. Milton loves the attention!
For those of you with goldendoodles, does yours share this characteristic? Likewise, for older goldendoodle owners, is your dog still super affectionate or has he or she outgrown this? (As I am typing, Milton is lying on my feet licking them!)
Growing up, I had a chocolate lab who was not nearly as social. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

Remington is a super cuddle bug! At about age 6-7 months (his terrible twos stage) he was very independent... but now he is my 80 lb lap dog. He must be touching us at all times ;)
Milton is beyond cute... awww....
Willow is not as snuggly, but very affectionate on her own. As a puppy, she always had to put a paw or her chin on our toes or hand when she lied down to rest. But she also fidgets quite a bit, and she gets hot very easily, thus just barely touching was her thing. She prefers that she comes to touch us rather than us trying to hug her. And the good news is (assuming that you are hoping Milton would stay as snuggly as he is now), Willow became more cuddly as she ages! At age 2 yr and 3 months, she sometimes demands to sit on our laps despite her size (she's 65-70 lb.), which she didn't really do when younger. She also sleeps longer with us in bed (she still gets hot). So, there's much more to look forward to. Enjoy your puppy, and get ready to have 70 lb. furry coil on your lap in several months! :)
Milton is the kind of puppy I wished for.....but got Banjo instead. LOL. He's never been a cuddle bug - especially as a youngster. Now that he's a whole 2 1/2 yrs...he's gotten to be a little more affectionate...he loves being near but not on me. He always followes me from room to room and never ever spends time in another room on his own. So, he doesn't need the actual physical contact but he does need to be near. He graciously puts up with my daily snuggles to him.... I NEED that physical contact! A little part of me still wishes he was more "cuddley"!
Same here, Carol. I could say Banjo and Monty must be clones. I've too noticed he is getting a bit more affectionate now that he is over 2 years old. I enjoy our morning cuddle, right after he wakes up (in the bed with me), and then lately he enjoys when I rub his chest while he is resting during a day. His eyes close and when I stop, he paws my hand and asks for more. I'll take whatever physical contact he offers. :-)
Bodi is a labradoode and loves to cuddle and give me doodlekisses! My DH and I went away for the day today (My 19 year old son stayed home with Bodi) and I was licked and sniffed when I came in the door. Now, as I sit at the computer he is at my feet. If I move to the couch or recliner he is on my lap. He sleeps in between me and my DH. He doesn't stay the whole night, but he starts and ends there. He is just VERY affectionate! ENJOY your doodle!
Hops isn't a goldendoodle, but he has only gotten more affectionate as he got older! I skimmed through your blog. I started one when I first got Hops too, and went through many of the same things you're going through now. I kinda miss having a puppy (although Hops is only 11 months now)! Looks like you're doing a great job and Milton is a cutie! Maybe a playdate once Milton is a little bigger. Hops is great with other doggies.
Cooper is a labradoodle, she wasnt too cuddly as a pup but got more and more so as she got older. She too is a velcro dog - always by me, but not ontop of me, which is how I like it. We do have daily snuggle time too though!
Luna (F1 mini GD) has gotten MORE cuddly as she gets older. She's about 2 now and more cuddly than ever. If she's on the couch with us she HAS to be touching someone.
Last Friday after a really hard play session we sat down to watch a movie... and Luna ended up on my fiance's shoulder (like a baby) upside down. She slept that way for an hour and wouldn't wake up - she was super comfy.
She's very trusting and seems to fall asleep faster if she's cuddling.
One is and one isn't. Kona is a love-bug. Owen is a busy-body. ;o)
Kona is 5 yo; Owen 1 1/2.
Rooney - an ALD isn't much of a snuggler - he loves a pet and a scratch, sleeps on the bed but not next to me and follows me from room to room. Stuart is a Goldendoodle and he is a SNUGGLE BUG! If he sees getting a love or pet he muscles his way in, he sleeps with us and lays ON me - right over my legs. At almost 70 lbs - he thinks he is a lap dog. I think it is the golden in him.
