Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Our new little goldendoodle, Milton, is such a cuddly dog. He is only 11 weeks old, but he loves to be held, carried, and petted. He constantly climbs into our laps to just sit. Milton loves the attention!
For those of you with goldendoodles, does yours share this characteristic? Likewise, for older goldendoodle owners, is your dog still super affectionate or has he or she outgrown this? (As I am typing, Milton is lying on my feet licking them!)
Growing up, I had a chocolate lab who was not nearly as social. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

Doris, Banjo sleeps on my "side" of the bed too....of course that's where his bed and favorite chair is...but I got to wondering if he slept on that side because I was there or his beds were there. So one night DH and I decided to test him and we switched sides....it was rather comical as Banjo didn't quite know what to make of it. After the lights were out we could hear him roaming around for a bit and then finally we heard him settle down .... on my "new" side of the bed. LOL....I felt like I "won" that one! Poor DH...... LOL
Sandy, Hattie is the cutest Energizer Bunny I've ever seen! LOL....Banjo jumps up on our bed every morning but stays down by our feet. It gives me comfort to know that he wants to be near us. As to recall.....Selective Hearing comes into play here.
Holly is my 60 pound lap dog. She was almost eight pounds when we got her and she still thinks that she is that small. However, lately, I a grateful that she has been lying on the couch and just resting her head in my lap...
Ollie is weird. He is a real cuddler...all 50 lbs of him likes to be in my lap. From day one he would chew a toy in my lap, and he still brings his bone and lays down on me on the couch. He is really cuddly if I have been gone a while, or not home much. My favorite is when he falls asleep in my lap. He also kisses quite a bit (to my mothers dismay - he likes feet). But what is weird is that he also will leave the room for extended amounts of time (always on my bed). I do live in a small apartment though.
Daisy is not a touchy feely dog, she loves us, and is always close by but she does not cuddle. My last doodle (of sorts) was the biggest cuddlebug, male. I do think boys are more cuddly than girls. My DH is definitely more cuddly than me LOL
Well, it seems I have a good shot of Milton's cuddling increasing as he grows older. YAY!
Chewie (ALD, 16 months old, 44lbs) is a velcro and busy-body dog, but is not a cuddle bug.
He needs to be very close to me or DH. When DH's working, he's always under the table or chair with one paw on DH's foot. When I'm cooking, brushing my teeth or watching TV on the couch, he HAS to be sleeping ON my feet. (insists on squeezing his way in between the sink and my legs). Every 10-15 minutes, he gets up and demands affection by putting his chin on our lap...will stay there staring and staring until he gets a pet or scratch behind the ears. Then he goes straight back to sleep again.
He's a super busy body when we pack our bags or I play with the iPad. Will do his best to get between you and whatever your doing. ALWAYS in your line of sight.
He will let me cuddle him but will squirm and wriggle away pretty quickly. But he doesn't like being held for long periods of time.
I think it depends. My Bexter was really cuddly when he was that age too. Now, he always has to be right where I am (in the same room - he follows me all around), but he doesn't necessarily like to be touching all the time. He just likes to be right there where he can see me. My Maggie is a cuddle bug for sure. She is bigger (60 pounds), so I wish they would switch this characteristic! It would be easier with Bexter on my lap (40 pounds) than her! They all have such cute & different personalities. Definitely enjoy your little cuddly guy!
Wilson is still a snuggler he likes to be on the sofa with me and lay right next to me
After returning for a week in Tennessee my doodle Shelby girl layed on my chest for the whole night! She really missed me as did I. She is five and still likes all the love and sit on our laps. A 65 lb. lap dog. and we all love it! Grr Doodle...
