Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So, sad.  We just found out from our breeder that our goldendoodle we had put a deposit on died.  From what we were told the 2 reds of the litter passed away from a strange internal organ bleeding condition.  We have since decided to go with another breeder (which we need to find in Northern California).  Please feel free to PM me with any great Goldendoodle breeders in the bay (there aren't many- most seem to be labradoodle breeders).  The wait lists are so long and we were so ready to have our girl home now!  We are heartbroken.

An Australian labradoodle is usually around $2500 - F1 and F1bs around $1500 from what Ive heard here.... your breeder is selling dogs for more than that.... the difference to a multigen is not much more

"Our first generation (F1) puppies are $1800 each. Our second generation (F1B) puppies are $1950."

I am so sorry to hear about your puppy.  How horrible.  I hope that this breeder was researched and is reputable, because this sounds really strange...I hope no foulplay was involved with these little pups.  Anyway, I certainly would get another breeder so that you can have a fresh start and hopefully will not have to wait too much longer.  Pick your breeder carefully!  You will get the perfect puppy that you were meant to have.  Good luck to you.

Yes- that's why I'm so shocked.  I found people on DK even who had gotten their pups through my breeder and all checked out well.  Their website was really good, they were well spoken... I did a lot of research.  We are definitely going with a different breeder now and are in the process of contacting them and researching them.  Thank you again for your kind words!

THis is just heartbreaking.  I am so sorry. Have you checked out the Owner Recommended Group here on DK? There is one goldendoodle breeder on that list in CA, not sure it this is Northern CA.  http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/ownerrecommendedbreeders

I hope someone contacts you with some news...I am on the other side of the US unfortunately!

Thanks for the link!  I've contacted some on the list from California.  What a wonderful resource :-)

I am really sorry to hear your sad news. I agree with the advice to pick a breeder carefully. Young puppies are so vulnerable so these things happen.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I know the right puppy will find you soon.

Oh, my, Rebecca - what very sad news.  I'm so sorry.  If this is any comfort to you, we had a heart-breaking experience and lost our goldendoodle, Simon, several years ago at a very young age.  Needless to say, we were devastated.  Six months later, Wally (a labradoodle) joined our family, and he is absolutely wonderful.  Eventually, the sadness of the loss eased and was replaced with joyfulness.  All I can say is that if you consider broadening your puppy search to include labradoodles, you might have an easier time finding a local breeder with the ideal puppy for you and your family.  Reading your post reminded me about our own awful loss, but then I looked over at Wally and smiled.  You'll find the pup who was meant to be yours.  I'm sure of it.

I too would go with anther breeder. This sounds very strange. it is possible as someone else pointed out, that they may have sold them to someone else for a higher price (some breeders will sell reds for more)

It must be heartbreaking for you. hang in there, the right pup will find you

Ahh, Kaylin, you sound like my Italian mother.  I had a deposit on a Welsh Terrier many years ago and the puppy died (the only male in the litter) and my mother said the same thing - someone paid more for that puppy!  But it is what got me into doodles.  I was a teacher off for the summer and wanted a puppy right then.  I found the perfect dog in Ohio and had him shipped to me.  Unfortunately, he had a liver problem and died at 7 years old, but they were the most wonderful years.  I still miss him and have had two doodles since then.  It is worth the time to get the right dog, however.  I, too, would change breeders.  There are lots of great breeders out there.

Oh no, that is terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that. I know there is controversy over having a puppy shipped but if you are open to that you may be able to use a breeder in a different state.

I am so sorry this happened to you. It is so sad. It is one of my nightmares. I have been anticipating another puppy for over 4 months now ever since my Cassie died. The puppy's Momma has just been bred so I have many what ifs already. The litter is sold out so I have the what if there is no pregnancy, not enough puppies, no females, complications ect. I hope you find another goldendoodle breeder and you have that precious puppy soon. I am waiting for an ALD so these are the only names I would have. Good luck to you.
