Need Some Reassurance- does our puppy look like a Goldendoodle?

After much discussion, and a terrible purebred beagle that caused us 15 years of grief, and both having a great love for Golden Retrievers but lacking appreciation for the cloud of shedded hair that follows them we decided on a Goldendoodle- and we are syked!

 

We put a lot of time and effort into finding a breeder with impeccible health records- both parents are OFA, CERF, PennHip, etc.  The mother is a gorgeous golden retriever and the father is a handsome standard red poodle.  He is not our cup of tea but we can see why he is studed as he is good looking and in great health.

 

We told the breeder that we did not want a blonde puppy so when the litter was born we opted for a red puppy.  We have received a number of pictures from the breeder and I have to admit that the older she gets the less she looks like any Goldendoodle we have seen.  In pictures she seems more brown now than red and her face just lacks that Goldendoodle look.

 

We are picking her up this week and truth be told once she is here she will be as beloved as any dog ever was but hoping that some members can weigh in on whether she looks like a Goldendoodle? Also has anyone had a red coat that lightened significantly, would love to see some pics; has anyone seen fur like this on a puppy and what should we expect it to turn into; and lastly does her snout look especially long?

 

As said, we are all in, but would love to see what our girl might look like in the future.

She's gorgeous!  What a beautiful colour.  She definitely looks like a goldendoodle - I would encourage you to look at the "Puppy to adult" group for lots of pictures.   See it here: Pup to adult group

With a first-generation goldendoodle there is NO specific "look", since it is a combination of two breeds that have very different appearances.  

The coat of an F1 goldendoodle can range from being almost identical to a golden retriever (like our dog, Luna - this is rare) to almost identical to a poodle (equally rare - most doodles are "in between" and shaggy).  The curlier the dog generally the less they shed.  

That being said your puppy has lots of "fluff" about the eyes but not much curl, so I imagine she will likely be a "shaggy", goldendoodle with wavy hair. I wouldn't worry about her snout because even if it does look delicate and "poodly" it will be covered with all that luxurious doodle fur.

Oh yes! That is such a golden doodle puppy look to me. So cute! Just as a word sometimes the red fades a bit or even a lot as they get older and sometimes it darkens. Either way congrats!

What a cute puppy and YES she does look like a goldendoodle and a beautiful color at that.  My Sasah who is a goldendoodle was very wavy and fluffy when I got her and now you would think she is a poodle 110%.  Her hair is a very tight curl, there is nothing wavy on Sasha - LOL.   They can change so much from puppy to adult it is difficult to say.

This is my friend's dog, Riley. She was dark as a puppy but has lightened up. She sheds a little, but not like a golden.

What a beauty....  Your beautiful puppy has a lot of potential in the "doodle" department.  I was worried about Bailey.  She looked like a golden ret. when we first got her.  But in less than a year she went from this
