sick puppy - not sure if there is anything I can to help him

Hello, My name is Joni and I just purchased Parker from a breeder in Western Maryland. Yesterday, he was eating and running around like a normal puppy. Today, he is throwing up yellow bile and not eating or playing. He has been throwing up since this morning. I'm worried about him since is not drinking or eating. He has his first puppy visit with the vet tomorrow. Is there anything I should be doing? He was eating a lot of grass as well.

 

We purchased him on Thursday and he has been so happy eating and playing with the grandchildren.  He has been sleeping all day.  The only time he gets up is to throw up.  We're concerned he ate a poison plant. 

 

Any advice would be helpful.....thank you

Joni, I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm assuming this is a young puppy, and if so, I urge you to get him to a vet today. Lethargy, not eating and vomiting in a puppy this young can be very dangerous.

I hope you are at the vet by now.

What breeder in Maryland did you get the puppy from?

They need to be  notified.  If this is indeed Parvo, the puppy came home with it from your breeder in Western Maryland.  There is an incubation period for Parvo.  This means that all the other puppies and dogs are at serious risk.  They ALL MUST go to the vet right away!!!

this reminded me of the other pup a few weeks ago that had parvo and was at the vet and seemed to be recovering. Anyone know what happend? did the pup make a full recovery?

That pup did go home with a clean bill of health I believe.

Certainly could have, however it can appear several days after an adoption as  mentioned in this article and many more

The incubation period, or period between contact with the virus and the appearance of symptoms, is usually 4-6 days. Because the disease may be difficult for the shelter to detect during the incubation period, apparently healthy animals with parvo may be adopted out only to become ill a few days later in their new home, causing much heartache for the shelter staff and the new owners.

Of course at this time, we are all just sitting here with no idea what the true diagnosis really is... however ............... a lot of us on here realize that the symptoms and the age of the puppy, and depending on where it was purchased from... well it all makes us really nervous.
