sick puppy - not sure if there is anything I can to help him

Hello, My name is Joni and I just purchased Parker from a breeder in Western Maryland. Yesterday, he was eating and running around like a normal puppy. Today, he is throwing up yellow bile and not eating or playing. He has been throwing up since this morning. I'm worried about him since is not drinking or eating. He has his first puppy visit with the vet tomorrow. Is there anything I should be doing? He was eating a lot of grass as well.

 

We purchased him on Thursday and he has been so happy eating and playing with the grandchildren.  He has been sleeping all day.  The only time he gets up is to throw up.  We're concerned he ate a poison plant. 

 

Any advice would be helpful.....thank you

Joni, I had a pup with parvo years ago. It was very scary but he recovered. The vet wouldn't keep our little guy because of contagion. They probably do things better now. But keep him hydrated if he's home. Even if you have to use one of those medicine syringes and give him a little bit at a time. I think we used something like pedialite because it had electrolytes. Sending prayers.

I am so sorry for the rough start you are having. I am praying for a rapid recovery ...when you get time let your breeder know. They should help you with expenses.


On a total side note one of neighbors puppies had parvo last summer...the puppy is doing great now!

It is with grateful thanks to everyone on this site that i post this. I am so happy I found this site especially when something like this happens. Joni had a place to reach out and everyone recognized the emergency. I can put myself in her place and would not know the symptoms of Parvovirus. You all through your caring have given Parker the best chance for survival and countless other new puppy owners the knowledge that could mean the difference between life and death. You are all great!
