Hello can anybody hear me?

(***UPDATE: this wasn't intended as a scolding for NOT participating :-D Merely trying to find out what works best in getting info/updates to those who WANT it***).

I feel like I’ve been trying 101 ways to communicate our latest contest and slideshow photo themes to everyone but the feedback has been so minimal that I’m wondering if even 10% of our members have seen my messages. Up until the past 2 to 3 weeks we’ve had excellent participation in our contests and slideshow submissions. But lately it seems participation has plummeted AND in part because members are not receiving the messages I send out by e-mail. I have also received emails asking about the very things I’ve already announced which makes me think the messages I send out are not making it to you.

Here are the methods I’ve used to give announcements:
1) discussions in the forum that I list as featured discussions which are always visible at the very top of the forum page.
2) emails sent to all members weekly that announce contests and slideshow themes and any other fun or important things going on at doodle kisses. These emails always have the subject line “On Doodle Kisses…” If you are not receiving these emails, but you want to, you must let me know. They may be going to your spam folder. If they are ending up in your spam folder, you can prevent that happening in the future by adding the following email to your address book:

Also, if you want to get the emails, be sure you have your email settings here on doodlekisses set so that you do receive these. Any time you change your settings, be sure to click save at the very bottom of the page.

3) For the contest we have going now, there is a link for more information between the “latest activity” and the forum discussion list on the main page.

4) this week I also put back on a scrolling announcement at the very top of the front page – is there anybody who has not or cannot see it?

So I’d like to know, which of these ways to get information to you (you who want it) works best for you? Do you have any other suggestions for how you’d like news and updates and contest announcements displayed?

I get all the communication but often don't have a contribution. I do think the last contest was way too complicated. This is a great doodle spot and I enjoy it. And maybe a 10% return isn't too bad especially at this time of the year!

LOL ... yeah the contest is a bit tough for some. But tagging is one of those things that once you GET IT...it's REALLY easy and when you FIRST upload your photos before you save them...you can copy the same tag on all of them.

I receive your emails and it is the best form of communication as I don't necessarily visit DoodleKisses.com everyday. And even when I do, I don't always visit the "Main"page. So, for me, I prefer you keep sending emails.

I do get emails from Doodlekisses members but have found my spare time to be nearly nonexistent these days so rarely get time to respond or go onto the site.

Hi Adina,
I'm getting all emails too......you do a really great job at communicating things with members!
I look forward to your Sunday emails announcing the next slide show, etc and think the scrolling banner on the front page is a nice touch......very hard to miss anything that way.......so, maybe everybody is just busier than I am, finding myself obsessively checking the DK site for anything new ;)
Keep up the good work and know that whatever you do is very much appreciated!

Oh yes Adina, I get every and all messages!! I think that we are all soooooooo busy, I am anyway, with Christmas and Thanksgiving just past that we are a little laxed in answering.

I received the email & my main page shows all of the banners, forum & slide show links so things are A-OK from my end. I'm not too particular about how you get the message out since I'm a seek-it-out type of person anyway. So no, don't worry, you're not wandering around in the fog at night talking to yourself in the forest ;)

Got it, but glad it was in the forum too! After my spam folder was discombobulated. I like having the forum as a back up unit! :)
