There was a post not too long ago about the different type of pet bowls being used.  Now there is a safety issue to think about with stainless steel bowls! Always something. Petco issued a warning about some of their stainless steel pet bowls.  In part they warning stated

"Stainless Steel Bowl Notice

Petco has determined that one of its foreign suppliers used stainless steel mistakenly containing small quantities of Cobalt-60 when fabricating certain orders of certain SKUs/models of stainless steel pet food bowls. Cobalt-60 is a radioactive material commonly used in industrial gauging equipment and other uses."

The link below contains the full notification.

OMD! And of course, it's from a "foreign supplier".

This is another example of why it doesn't pay to try to save money by buying products that are made in China. The quality control is zip.

Thanks for posting this, Christine.

A Doodle Kisses member responsibility!  You're right, there is no savings only heartache if anything bad were to result from tainted products.

Yes, I have found myself looking at baby stuff and if it's made in China, I rethink buying it. It's just so hard not to!  Yesterday I received a gift of bath toys from my mom's friend.  They are from a local boutique and are all made in USA, bpa free, etc...I bet they cost $20 which is ridiculous for bath toys, but they are not from China and may be one of my fave gifts!

Thank you for posting.

It really is hard to get things for baby made in the USA, Butthere definitely are many websites that carry them. Our daughter only uses BPA free, no plastics or painted toys and they are more expensive, but you just buy less. No harm in that. I feel it's worth it in the long run.

I'm impressed with the forthright way PetCo is handling this issue. They seem to be providing very complete information and doing everything in their power to recover the affected products.

Christine, thanks for spreading the word on this!

And the Chairman of the Board of Petco just happens to have adopted a doodle from the DRC. :)

What???  Love it.

Yep, he adopted one of Richard Crowe's fosters last year. I'm sure there's a blog about it somewhere.

Sophie's original story: http://doodlerescue.org/profiles/blogs/sophie-multigenerational

Sophie's new home: http://doodlerescue.org/profiles/blogs/sophie-last-year-s-foster-la...

In the second blog, you can see that Sophie is on the label of the DRC Malbec wine bottle.

Sophie sounds like such a sweetie! I'm glad they gave her a home and I'm sure they are very upset about this problem with their product.  They obviously love animals and seem to be very upfront about the recall issue.  Hopefully no one will be harmed because of it.

Hope he knows about DK! Get some good education about supplying better quality food in their chain.

That would be nice! :)
