I looked through this group to find some stained glass projects, but didn't see anything. Anyone have stained glass projects that you've completed and want to share? I think projects like these would be fun in our retirement years (not there yet, darn it).
My husband did 1 or two pieces back in the 80's, and last year we got a tiny vacation place on the Oregon coast that needed something. We decided to put his rusty skills to work. We found a free picture of a lighthouse on the internet, and I enlarged it in Paint and printed it section by section, then taped it together. Then we worked on little changes. Then he annoyed the local glass shop workers by shopping for just the right glass, and had to buy new equipment for the project. Then he made the thing, AND then we transported it up there in our bumpy vehicle without breaking it. That was the biggest accomplishment, I think. Anyway, I really like how it turned out, and added much needed 'something' to our little space.
Here's the picture I found:
And her'e how it turned out:

Thanks, Donna. We aren't able to get up there very often, so when we are it's extra special.
My parents had a man make a stained glass window for their kitchen. They had a regular glass window installed and cleverly installed the stained glass inside. When the house is sold (which is probably going to happen this next year), the stained glass window can be easily removed in its frame and kept for another home.
That was smart of them, Nancy. These things are personal art, so you want to be able to take them if you move. Ours can be removed as well.
That is so gorgeous!
Thanks, Kyoko.
I am so glad Kyoko commented and the link brought me to another look at this marvelous vacation hideaway with the gorgeous stained glass.
I'm just seeing this now. What a perfect piece for your vacation cottage! Just beautiful!!!!
