I know I have mentioned (probably too many times) that my daughter is a vet--she is a dairy vet but also treats other farm animals and horses. There is a Youtube series called "Veterinarians on Call" produced by the Pfizer company and they just released a video of my daughter and her boss and mentor, Dr Pete Ostrum, at work.
If Pete looks a little familiar to some of you, he played Charlie is the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie--or maybe it was called Willie Wonka (the one with Gene Wilder) Anyway, that was his only acting job and he dedicated himself to becoming a vet after that.
I just thought some of you might be interested...but truthfully, I am a proud MOM!!!

Ginny, Thank you for sharing this with all of us. You have every reason to be a proud mom :)
I'm so proud too, and she is not even my daughter. F.J. and I both watched the video. Really really nice. Do you think it would b too much if I showed my sons--Look at Ginny's daughter
Well you could..but she is engaged!!
As well you should be a proud mom!!!!
What a great video Ginny. I can totally feel your proudness. I would feel the same way and do with what my children have achieved. It is just so wonderful and rewarding to have children like yours. I am proud of her too and she is adorable! Love that she is now engaged to her classmate. What a perfect life they will have. You did a great job Mom!!!
You have every right to be PROUD! Hope to see some of the wedding photos too.
No wonder you are a proud mom! Your daughter followed her dream, found her perfect slot, and is doing good things for animals. What could be more proud-making!
Great video. Thanks so much for sharing. You have every right to be proud of your daughter (as does she). Being a large animal vet, particularly for a women, is no easy job! What led her to the large animal side? You don't live on a farm do you? Just curious.
We live in a rural area and Jen loved to ride horses growing up, so she worked for families with horses cleaning stalls etc to make money to get and feed a horse. She was only 11 when she started doing that and the horses were so big! But she was tough and not afraid--and the horses respected her. In Vet school, she learned about the problems in the food industry in terms of dairy health etc and wanted to make a difference for farmers and that led her to specializing in dairy, but she treats horses too.
I live in a very rural area and in the last few years we have been seeing some ladies come into the field to do large animals. The farmers had a tough time with it until the ladies proved they were up to the task. Your daughter looks like she presents a very confident attitude and I'm sure that helps her. I say again, great video. Thanks for sharing.
Oh yeah--she has run into that! At 5'7" and about 130 pounds, I am sure the farmers have their doubts--but she is very strong. Occasionally she has to call in a male vet to help but she tries not to! Her fiance has been on call with her at night lately which makes me feel a lot better!
Great! She was very gentle with that horse :) (It was a very cute horse, too!)
I thought about being a vet, but I ended up being a Biology professor instead. I love my job, but I do often wonder what it would be like if I had ended up a doctor (either animal or human).
