Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I don't know if anyone has ever suggested this before but I'm just wondering since people aren't allowed to advertise puppies or breeders on the main forum, why are members allowed to come on here to advertise their adult doodles? It's particularly irritating when it's a new member who only joined for this purpose and will be gone as soon as they find someone to give their dog to.
I think there should be a group for "owner rehomes" so people looking to dump their dogs can go there to make all their silly excuses and the rest of us don't have to see it and be saddened by it. And people looking to adopt adult doodles can go there and sift through the 'advertisements". All of these posts about rehoming supposedly perfect dogs makes DK a very sad place to come to sometimes. I came here to see pictures of cute doodles to liven up my crazy day at work, and instead I see another completely ridiculous rehoming post that leaves me sad and angry. I'm starting to feel like coming to DK is like gambling with my happiness, one day all is good, the next day, sadness and frustration.
I really don't know how other members, particularly those who have been here a long time, have managed to deal with this for so long, but I'm asking nicely could we please find a way to stop all this rehomeing nonsense on the main forum and let's get DK back to being the happy place it was when I first joined. pretty please? :)

I so agree Jane... How awesome what you do for those kids..... Amazing... I used to do stuff like that when I worked.. I hope to again some day soon.
Absolutely my view.
Sherri, I get the outrage and sadness, but I think Jane makes a really good point.
:-). Yep.
Thank you for this post Jane. I have been trying to think of a way to write what I was feeling about all of this and I think you were able to state it in a very eloquent way. I absolutely agree with you.
After 6 pages of responses after the fact I'm done. At this moment in time I have a CAT sitting on my lap as I sit on my deck. SIGH She has been here for a nearly a month. She found us, we do not want to take care of her, but yes we have done that day after day. I am desperately trying to find her a home. The shelters are full. They ask me to vet her as they have no resources nor money. I was able to get her on PetFinder along with a bazillion other cats. :( I know not what to do. We really do not want any cat. This cat is very nice and wants/needs humane companionship...I refuse to let her inside. i have been torn every single day since she arrived...a month ago, I posted on 3 websites as a found pet...nothing. I reach out to no kill shelters, they are all full, no help. I feed her and take care of her outside, but its killing me. I wring my hands day in and day out. What shall I do that will be the best avenue? Truly I feel if you haven't been there, you haven't been there....We all do the best we can with the circumstances we have.."
Sharon - what an Angel you are!! I too was not a cat person at all. 10yrs ago I rescued a very tiny, very young kitty from being run over as it has walked out into a street. Well 10 years later Humphrey is still with us - in the house (yikes). He has moved from Mich. to Georgia to Mich. to Florida with us. He had a black lab brother that helped raise him and now has Rooney & Stuart. In a controversial decision - we had him totally declawed - it was the only way that I could deal with a cat. He loves Fl where he has free roam of our caged lania. Sometimes LOVE can come in some very strange packages.
i lived with a cat in my first marriage, she lived for 16 years. I did not like her, she was on my counter tops, table, stove etc. and.... she would not use the 2 clean litter boxes. I just dont take to cats. I feel terrible about this. I love dogs. I want to pet them, play with them, but cats have their own agenda. I so wish someone that likes cats willl take her, I will pay them to take her. she is a nice cat for someone that wants a cat. :( :(
i want to add that I will pay someone to take Kiltty. I understand that if I vet her for leukemia and rabies, I need to take her inside so as to not negate the tests. Ok...but I don't want to take her inside. Am I a complete loser? i will do those tests if we have a possible taker... I guess I'm a loser in the eyes of a cat adoption person, but i'm doing the best i can,,,,,,,
Sharon, We had the same issue when we moved into our house. Lots of stray cats and eventually the last one left started pounding on our window. I let her in. I couldn't take it anymore. That was 5 years ago. The cat HATES our dogs and will have nothing to do with them. I feel your pain. I hope you find the cat a home. Ask around at work. Maybe someone knows someone who wants a cat. Other than that, I did work with a rescue organization for the spay and neuter stuff with the strays, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name.
ok, maybe someone will adopt the wonderful cat that showed up on my deck. pleeassee contact me for information about this lovely kitty.
