I love the frosted look!  Riley is so handsome.

A puppy that will stay dark is unusual in the ALD world. There are a few, but not many.

The ones that stay dark look black as young puppies and get darker from birth to adults.

Here is a 7 wk old puppy that shows no light on her face and this pic was taken in bright sunlight and she looks almost black.

Here she is again at one year. No sign of light fur on her nose and still looks black unless she is beside a true black.

Here is an adult and her puppy colour of 11 wks. Note the light nose on the puppy and she is a rich, but not dark chocolate. She still might have dark choc puppies because her mom is dark.

I just took a few photos of Cooper - the batteries in my camera werent cooperating so they arent very good photos! I tried to get some different angles of her. She is much lightwer, but still chocolate, with silver in her tail and ears, sprinkled on her back, and lighter head and muzzle. But her legs and chest are the darkest!

This is Cooper now, just 1 month shy of her 3rd birthday

And this is Cooper the week she came to us - at 9 1/2 weeks

Charlie was more chocolate with copper ears and muzzle.  I love his coloring - but probably because I just love him so much!  Here he is at 4 months and then yesterday at 1yr 3 mos.  His tail looks like it has been frosted!  His mama was a rich coppery chocolate and dad was white fleece with choc. ears and several other choc. areas on his body - a very handsome fellow! All puppies were choc. Sorry about the large photos, I do not know how to make them smaller.

Coopers tail was the first to change, but interestingly, it now is more chocolate again, with just the ends being silver

What an amazing difference in color.  Hurley is 6 months old and still very chocolate.  Are chocolate doodles not that common?   We get a lot of people commenting on his color.

Most do change. Here is one that didn't change and also a dramatic change from 11 wks to 1 year.

Well, I thought Sophie was going to hold her chocolatey colour, but she has changed dramatically in the past few months, mostly on her back and tail but it is spreading to her legs and sides. Her face is a lighter coloured chocolate too, but so far the front, belly and head are still chocolatey.

Before (about 6 months)

After (a year and a half):

I don't think I've seen the end of it either. I think in another 6 months she will be completely different. This photo was taken a week ago and she has already changed more.

I am amazed at the variances in chocolate doodle colors.   We hope Hurley stays chocolate but I have noticed he is more a red chocolate than a chocolate chocolate now.  He is 7 months old now.   Well, no matter what the color we love him and think of him as our baby.

Hurley is 9 months old.  He was a dark chocolate when we got him and has slowly turned into a red chocolate. Today I discovered about 6-8 stark white hairs.  Does that mean his coat is going to turn some shade of white?  Love him as a chocolate but will love him no matter what color his coat turns to.

Lisa,
That is such a cute picture of Daisy.

Hurley is a multi-gen wavy fleece.  Here are pictures of him at 3 months and now at 9 months.  On his back close to his neck he is a vary dark chocolate.
